you are fricking retarded if you think a Chevy bolt does more damage to a road than an F150. How much more does a Tesla weigh than an 18 wheeler?!

Both of those vehicles require a lot more fuel, thus pay a lot more taxes.
I'm not saying 120 is the number, bust zero is certainly not the right number either.

Dude, just admit that you have zero idea how to go about calculating whether this fee is "fair" for hybrids. Your deflections are making you look very, very stupid

You came in this thread calling everyone a retard and then you tried to get me to calculate your gas tax based off your maximum MPG. It's not deflecting when you gave me incorrect info and I respond asking for the correct info. You just don't want to admit you gave me incorrect info. Just admit you're the retard and take the L.

The point is the tax system isn’t fair.

And your math is just estimates at this point. No one knows how much you truly drive.

I think hybrid is fine and currently more practical than an ev. But the government is going to force you into them and still make you pay all sorts of taxes. In the future it will go up again.

I don't disagree on any of these points. And ultimately, I genuinely couldn't care less about the extra $30 I'm getting "fleeced" out of. We're talking a couple of decent cocktails worth of cash. Just not a big deal.

I'm just here to frick with the "small government conservatives" on this board cheer-leading government added punitive taxes and somehow not seeing the hypocrisy in it

Retard, I've already told you, twice, that I drive 10k miles per year, roughly 2/3 of that in state.

Calculate!

The gas tax is based off miles per gallon, retard. You gave me your MPG for highway miles.

You're functionally retarded. It's just to replace the state excise tax on gasoline that EV drivers aren't paying. It isn't about trying to stick it to EV drivers.

While we can all complain about taxes, (other than having shitty roads) gas tax to keep public highways up and running isn’t usually on the “small government conservative’s” hit list.

No, I didn't. I have my car set to reset one of my trip meters every time I fill up. On a single tank of gas, I generally get about 500 miles driven and about 45mpg. A bit higher in spring and fall (about 47mpg), right at 45mpg in the summer, and a bit lower (42mpg or so) in the winter. That's real world mixed use. My car is actually rated at 48/48, in case you were curious.

So now that we've established that I gave you all of the information you need from fricking jump, go, calculate!

You're a dumb arse if you took that comment as literal.

EV, I understand the tax. Hybrid, they’re just over-doing it.

Not if the goal is to make them pay a fair road use tax.

You said you drive 1/3 of your time out of state, but do you fill up your tank from empty each time you're out of state?

Generally speaking, no. However, conservatives rightly rail against government passing punitive taxes. And yet, every time this subject gets brought up, "conservatives" are thrilled by the idea that government is sticking it to people who *checks notes* drive cars they don't like. It's rank hypocrisy.

I think we need to take them at their word and start charging tax based on vehicle weight. What's another $60 on top of the $780/month note for Peighslynn's Tahoe?

Can’t wait for the fake republicans cheering on this tax.
More tax = more theft period.

Obviously depends on where I am. I can say that for trips to the panhandle, I fill up in BR and that gets me to the condo, all of the driving around during the trip, and about halfway back (if I wanted to). Instead of driving halfway back and waiting until I'm empty, I drive back up to the interstate, usually with about a quarter of a tank left, and fill back up so I can make the drive back home and still have about half a tank for the work week.
