The administration has spent the last three years painting itself into this corner. Their tying the hands of the Border Patrol to primarily make them an Uber service was bad enough, but then they went beyond that to actually interfere with attempts by border states (remember his dismantling of Arizona's container wall?) to do anything to slow down the amount of illegals coming in.

He has now created a Constitutional crisis where states are threatening to send troops to the Texas border not to defend against illegals, but to defend Texas against our own federal government whose policies have created this scenario.

His choices:

1. Attempt to federalize the Texas National Guard. If he tries this, Abbot will refuse it. Biden might threaten with the Insurrection Act (we know how the Left loves using that term). This could lead to Biden trying to federalize troops from other states. Right now we're already looking at rougly half the states in the country pledging support to Texas so this scenario could get really ugly really quickly.

2. Totally 180 on this and scapegoat Mayorkas (this could also play out as Mayorkas just resigning). This would be his best move. Yes, it would make him look weak, but public opinion (from both sides) is massively on the side of more enforcement. He would likely just use this as a delaying tactic with Abbott having to challenge him yet again.

3. Try to de-escalate by "calling for cooler heads to prevail" (read: another delaying tactic while not really doing anything).

4. Actually try to force by sending federal agents in. This could be dicey as well but in a different way. The Border Patrol has no love for Biden, ordering them to fire on TNG troops doing what DHS has kept BP from doing might create a massive enough schism in the agency that none comply. This would be a HUGE blow to any President, especially one running for re-election.

If there's any "win" for Biden here, I don't see it.

Remember when the idiot made a comment about using Military fighter jets against US Citizens known as Maga Republicans.

He would probably be stupid enough to try it.

Mobilizing the National Guard would cost the department of defense money which would also harm their ability to finance troops in Europe and the Navy in the Middle East.

He looking weak in the eyes of our enemies overseas.

I'm sure any one who wants to can hang out, say, a mile or two away and keep an eye out.
