Damn. That's pretty big news for them.

Jon is a huge lib that obviously skewered R's more than D's, but I always thought he was relatively fair (by very low standards), and he would rip D's very often. And he was actually funny.

I'm sure he will go much harder in the paint against the right now than he did then, but I'll still give it a watch or 3

I'm not sure I watched DS even once since he left

That John Stewart is long gone per his new show. He won’t be much different than the rest of late night sans Bill Maher.

Good God.

That's a lot of delusion wrapped up in very few words.

All of this. I've never watched TDS regularly, but any time I did or any time I saw clips he was a good host. And like you said, I may not agree with his politics for the most part but he was at least pretty funny.

This is huge for them, as I suspect the value of TDS has gone completely off a cliff. You can't make me believe that very many people watch TDS since he left since Trevor Noah was so awful. And even moreso now that they keep trotting out as make woke democrats as possible to guest host.

I won't watch (since I never really do/have), but this is still pretty big news for CC. We'll see how unbiased he is once he's back. I've seen some things from him the last several years that make me think he's maybe cooled off the liberal idiocy, but then again I've seen other things that make me think he's still the same.

I can't imagine the boatload of money they threw at him to get him to come back, even if only temporarily.

This idea that the old John Stewart was some left leaning moderate who tried to be fairly even in his partisan criticism is laughable and shows how many people lack critical thinking skills. He would attack both sides but when it was the right it was hard attacks trying to damage them. With the left it was mundane, harmless goofs that had no real political or professional implications. He would be like Republicans hate minorities but democrats occasionally pick their nose, aren’t all politicians bad. He and everybody associated with the show knew that wasn’t the message they were really sending but they gave themselves just enough cover to pretend to be semi-balanced. In truth John Stewart’s Daily show was every bit as hyper partisan as the worst show on MSNBC or Fox News. His comedy talent is undeniable though and is one reason people fell for his shtick.

agree with most of that

the show's true down fall is how untalented its correspondents are now. They had some ridiculous talent under Stewart. Now it seems like a bunch of hacks that think its their personal mission to take on anything right, so its just low hanging fruit "hey let's go to a small town in Alabama and get their views on gay marriage HA HA HA dumb rednecks, see this is how all racist conservatives think!" and the audience roars with laughter and applause

Stewart is definitely liberal but at least he didn't fall into the "all on the left are the enlightened and all conservatives are uneducated racists" line of thinking

I really wish we could get to a point that it’s not about being a lib or a repub but about the actual issues they care about.

Jon Stewart is passionate about getting lifelong healthcare for first responders. Particularly those first responders that were there on 9/11. He’s sat before congress pleading their case multiple times.

Do you think there is any top shelf comedian in America that won’t have fun with Trump? I don’t.
