Won’t bore you with extreme details but:

- Expect Metroid Prime 2 remastered ahead of Metroid Prime 4

- 2 devs from 2 different studios (one a trailer creation company and the other a former CoD dev) deleted their social media presence on LinkedIn and some of Twitter when SMD64 did some deep digging on their backgrounds and exposed it to the masses.

1. Based on the evidence, it seems like Nintendo will try their hand with a sci-fi shooter multiplayer similar to Halo. This person that was hired by retro some time ago worked on backgrounds for Valorant, CoD, among other well known big time multiplayer shooters. To what extent they’ll go all in on multiplayer, who knows. Halo 2 for what its worth had a fantastic campaign, arguably the best in the series, with a great multiplayer so it can be done.

2. Based on the evidence, expect MP2R within the next 3 months. Metroid Prime was an internal success (thank god) but if in my personal opinion, I don’t see how they could go through the whole trilogy before releasing MP4. Especially given how huge MP3 was for its time. One of the two people that took off their social media presence was the trailer maker and was brought on to help according to SMD64 around a year ago or slightly less. Which lines up with his former projects.

3. Just general thoughts. From what I understand in the game development industry it’s common practice in the middle and towards the end for certain freelance talent to be brought on to fix things in code or patch things up that in house talent just isn’t set up to do already. This also applies to graphics and art as well. That being said, a lot of freelance employment going on at retro in the last 9 months has had fairly impressive portfolios working at companies like Blizzard, Naughty Dog, Riot etc. whether or not you like those companies, they do employ some of the best development talent in the world. Their management is just a bunch of buffoons. If I were to guess, I’d either say it releases as a “Switch 2” (I use that term loosely) launch title or or similar to Elden Ring, launches early in 2025 around February or March, if that’s not the new console’s release already. I don’t believe so, because on that front everyone is saying mid to late fall this year.

Anyway, take it how you will. I’m excited Nintendo is investing so much in Metroid lately now that they’ve figured out that “HEY! Our games’ sales aren’t suffering because they’re bad! They’re suffering because our advertising and consoles suck!”

As a side note, I hope retro doesn’t suffer because of the recent developments in south Texas. They’re located right in the heart of longhorn country in Austin, Texas.

Their LinkedIn profiles were completely deleted and Twitters were wiped clean of any mention of their specific jobs.

SMD64 saw the shooter game dev’s portfolio background and posted it in a video with speculation, and their LI profile was deleted within 48 hours of that video. The trailer creation person doesn’t so much matter in all of this. But Nintendo is trying to keep an actualized multiplayer in Metroid close to the vest it seems. Not sure how complex you can make a shooter like that, but all signs point to it.

Did I miss something or are they going to get broken into by illegals?

Metroid Prime Hunters was an ok try as far as a more shooter oriented multiplayer Metroid game. IDK about a COD or Halo style purely combat focused Metroid even if its just a separate multiplayer mode for a more traditional Metroid Prime campaign. Glad to hear MP2 re-master is coming soon.

I enjoyed the MP1 Remaster so would definitely play MP2. Never played 2 or 3

Great info, seems legit from what I am seeing.

But...

Not sure any true big Nintendo release has been and released in under 12 months. So the February/March timeline is best. And despite some of the Switch 2, I just don't see it this year at all. Again, that's not REALLY how Nintendo plays it.

The only difference this time is this might be the one time Nintendo doesn't change the game too much. I could maybe see a 6-8 month release window for the console if it is truly a Pure Switch successor and not a typical Nintendo divergence from generation to generation.

Different conversation, but man if this is the first time Nintendo doesn't change the game some - that will be an interesting time for Nintendo. I hold to the fact that a lot of their creativity comes from forcing themselves into a consistently innovative mode. It doesn't ALWAYS work out, but it keeps them fresh, keeps them working on different ideas, if they settle with Switch 2... I just wonder what that means moving forward.

Huh? What first party Nintendo game hasn't sold like gangbusters? Wonder sold over 4 million in the first week of release.

Star Fox Zero sold half a million world wide

Xenoblade X sold just under 900k which is roughly a million less on average than its 3 other counterparts that have released on switch.

Bayonetta 2, which Nintendo paid out of pocket to develop, essentially did what happens in the movie industry where the game barely made internal figures predictions which would otherwise run the studio dead even after paying everyone their money. Though that doesn’t matter with a gaming conglomerate.

TP:HD’s sales dropped off 84% from the first week of its release on the Wii U.

Switch success seems to have clouded your memory a bit. Wii U was a terribly mismanaged console and even its best games sold very poorly compared to other titles on the market. It never established solid 3rd party support, much like the PS5, and it just went downhill from there. Nintendo used to put out some really cool ideas in the mid 2010s but once the switch came out they started gentrifying their approach and they aren’t as consumer friendly as usual. But I’d argue the latter is better by proxy.
