Home owners insurance question

One of my co workers had a water line to his house break from the cold weather and asked if I knew anything about plumbing.
I told him yea I know enough that I’ve never called a plumber.
The long and short is he’s pissed off and says I’m responsible.
We had a few beers and I admit maybe I ran the mini excavator a little reckless. I busted up the curb pretty good and somehow nicked a gas line.
I told him this is a good opportunity to call the insurance company and file a claim.. I mean situations like this is why we pay high premiums, I wanna see the insurance company step up and flex. Where’s Jake??
I say this entire situation is between the home owners insurance and the home owner whom willingly and knowingly hired a semi professional unlicensed plumber.
I might need a lawyer, any suggestions?

you are exempt from any liability because you were trying to do the right thing.. tell the friend that he is the a-hole, not you

I can’t tell if you’re stupid, if this is a response thread to another thread I haven’t seen yet, or if you’re serious.
If you’re serious, you’re fricking retarded.

Q: "Why are plumbers so expensive?"
A: "Because they're fricking well worth it."

You did all you can. Sometimes you just have to let people help themselves.

What does the gas line have to do with cold water pipe busting? Hot water heater?

OP went all Rambo on a (likely) rented mini-ex without dialing 811, destroyed a curb, and hit a gas line whilst in search of a suspected burst water supply line.

Your shitty amateur hour work isn’t a covered peril on a homeowners policy.

He pointed out the gas line and I thought I was well away from it and ended up hitting it with the bucket. We started to smell gas so I shut down the excavator and walked upwind to light a smoke.. Soon after I heard the gas hissing so he called 911 and I dipped out.

You started out hot trolling with your first thread, then flew to close the sun trying to be a biker.
No one will bite on this one.

Better call your liability insurance company.
