Easier to find a job when you have a job.

I struggled my first year out the military (retired Army) 15 jobs. Finally learned you cannot talk to civilians the way you talked to folks in the military, Also found out that some civilians don't give two craps about the company they work for, just the paycheck.

Exactly. You don’t want to explain to a potential employer why you got fired or why you quit.

It’s poor form to talk shite about your current employer on the interview trail. Better to stay positive and talk about the opportunity.

And you have some bargaining power that goes away when you don’t have one.

You will be instantly passed over from about about 90% of the open jobs when you tell them the reason you left your former job because you were "unhappy at your last job because they made you work in your chosen profession" The 10% that would hire him are at the bottom of the barrel.

Not "easier" in the sense that a new job offer will materialize simply because you currently have a job, but looking for a new job while you are currently employed helps to not add the additional stress and burden of finances on top of an already anxious situation.

DO NOT quit until you have something else lined up. As someone that hires folks, fair or not, its a big red flag when someone does this
