They've always made a point to maximize hunter opportunity, which means maximizing weekend hunt days.

The majority of duck hunters probably aren't hunting many weekdays, which means your proposition is never going to happen if it means losing a weekend or two of hunting.

I don't disagree with this, persay, but if it made a difference, the harvest numbers should be going up at some point later in the season. They aren't. From 2004-2013, the average daily bag from Day 57-60 drops every day. From Day 38 to Day 60, it never got above 3.3 birds/day.

When removing anyone that didn't harvest a single duck on a given day, the average fluctuates between 3 and 5 birds the entire season, but with a steady decline towards an average of about 4.5 birds.

So if January should be better, why do the numbers steadily decline with no noticeable spike even beginning?
