hi, i need to get a new passport. i filled out my ds-64 and i printed out my ds-11 and i am going to the post office tomorrow to apply for a new passport. what all do i need to bring other than my ds-11 and ID? i am traveling to exuma on april 30th. my girlfriend needs to get a new passport as well. can we get our passports before the trip or do we need to get rush my passport?

Find your old passport and send it in, takes a few days.

Renewal is DS-82, but it sounds like yours has expired and is out of the renewal window?
You will need your old passport. It would help to have your social security card and birth certificate just in case, but I do not remember if I needed them.
Four months is plenty of time, the turn around right now is only a few weeks, but if you want to rush them for peace of mind, it is maybe ~$100 more.

Mine took 3 months about a year ago May. Expired but within the window.

I applied for a new passport and had it in within 2 and a half weeks
