that's cool. But he didn't beat Strickland tonight, which is what we're talking about.
Except he just did, and you're gonna have to deal with that. Later on when you calm down, go back and re watch it.

And I’ll see that he didn’t win the fight.

It was a close good fight, but we’ve seen this play out over and over to be the champ you need to BEAT the champ and as close as it was you didn’t really beat the champ if there’s a real debate about who won
You all do realize that each round is scored individually and not cumulatively at the end, right? There ain't no "tie goes to the champion." It's math.

The whole Fight Companion, which includes a former UFC fighter, the #1 UFC commentator ever by a mile and one of the most successful and influential BJJ instructors ever all clearly thought Sean won the fight.

Lol @ thinking you won a fight when the reigning champ is still standing, fully conscience

Strickland was easily the more crisp and accurate fighter. He picked apart DDP with his jab and straight right, and he checked almost every leg kick. DDP was the more aggressive fighter, had takedowns which did nothing, but it was apparently enough to give it to DDP.
Strickland fought not to lose. He wasn’t aggressive enough, didn’t let the right hand fly enough and abandoned that front kick to keep distance.
I don’t think DDP won the fight as much as Strickland lost it.

Same fight companion that thought Volk beat Islam the first time lol let's not pretend that Joe isn't biased and has his favorites.

This is the problem. He got rewarded for meaningless takedowns and for throwing wild crap that didn't connect.

Strickland won the fight. Period.
Disney/ESPN stepped in and rigged it. FACT.

I agree, takedowns that actually lead to something should count. But Strickland was up in seconds and the takedowns were ineffective.

I love the UFC but this is what drives me the most insane about it. If someone gets a takedown 9 out of 10 times the judges just give them the round regardless of what they do with it.
It was definitely a close fight but I personally think Strickland won.

The promotion that flipped a middle finger to Covidians, brought us Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal, and features Trump ringside at damn near every UFC event suddenly rigged a main event at the altar of wokeism.
Right.

Certainly didn't work for Yan vs O Malley

Close fight. I thought Strickland did enough to retain the belt. Obviously, the take downs mattered. I don’t think they physically affected Strickland, but in the judges mind, it was a difference maker. I’ve watched Strickland fight a dozen times. He’s a black belt in BJJ. I’m not sure why he doesn’t fall back on his BJJ skills instead of standing up and striking all fight. I love watching him sling it, but it would be interesting to see him use his ground game against a powerful striker like Dricus.

Right.
It was a close fight that could have gone either way.
"close fight, belt goes back to the champ" sounds good but it's not a real thing.

Not all black belts are created equally
