I've lost power more times in one year with Demco than the previous 10 years with Entergy. Is this normal for them?

Our street is Demco, rest of neighborhood is Entergy
We don’t have the issues the rest of the neighborhood does

Demco buys their electricity from Entergy.

Neither is better than the other when it comes to distribution. Entergy also has transmission and generation though.
What really matters is how close/for you are from the nearest sub, how big that nearest sub is, and how much of the lines around your area are above/below ground. That varies from place to place regardless of company.

We had Entergy for 25 years in Central. We lost power far more often than my aunt down the road with Demco. We have Demco now in Shenandoah and rarely lose power.

We have Demco and have maybe lost power 3 times in 10-11 years outside of hurricanes.
I think it just depends on the area/neighborhood.

I’ve had the exact opposite experience. I used to live in Angelle Estates subdivision in Gonzales with Entergy. In 2016, I moved to a more rural area of AP and have had DEMCO since then. I’ve lost power less times since then than I lost in literally any random given year with Entergy.

All utility systems have areas that are more and less dependable than others. A lot of it has to do with how aggressively they trim trees on their rights of way.
Don’t ever get mad about them trimming trees on rights of way….no matter how bad they end up looking.
