For those who always need to criticize DA, his firing of Carmichael and two other offensive coaches should be seen as a sign that DA is not so soft. It is a recognition of a problem that could not be fixed with the current offensive leadership.
What I think is an interesting note in Carmichael release is that it does not appear Carmichael made this decision himself. They did not say it was a mutual decision or that Carmichael decided he wanted to explore other opportunities.
So what you can take from this move is that DA put his foot down, made a needed decision for the betterment of the team, and hopefully this now asserts DA as the boss and leader for the rest of the staff and players. My guess is that while DA was HC, their was some sense of "equal" equal authority with Carmichael being a long term holdover employee. Those can be tricky dynamics to deal with especially if some players and coaches see opportunities to undermine you.
