LSU was Saban's main objective in the SEC every year.. he knew what he left and the only team that could keep him from achieving his goal was LSU.. so he made sure to recruit every recruit that LSU went after and cherry pick the ones in LA that could help us or hurt us.. very smart on his end..

All I'm saying is look at the LA players he signed and their production on the team. Outside of the two LSU HC transitions, his recruits from LA had minimal impact.

Meh. Kelly ran him out. 9 of top 10 is about as fence up as you can get.

Saban has been a non entity in Louisiana the past 2 years.

It coincides with some other factor, but I'm not sure what. (sarcasm)

Know what's even better? No more State Police escorts for that little bastard.

We have been handling Saban in Louisiana recruiting for quite some time.

No one anyone hires should worry us. Its been shown that LSU is always capable of winning big if we keep our own house in order. Our problems have been inside our own house. 2011 and 2019 we defeated arguably Sabans 2 best teams in Tuscaloosca. '11 happened how it happened in the end(they were better) but it didn't matter who was on their sideline when we fulfill OUR potential. Worrying about others is less time spent worrying about ourselves.

Sure he took top 10 ranked players. Very few turned out to make significant contributions. Many times, LSU took a better player that was from out of state at that position. I care less about where recruits were ranked and more about how they contributed on the field. As a North LA native, I've been watching that trend for a long time. Rarely did LSU miss out on a player. When they did, it was usually in a coaching change season.

As others have mentioned the threats are Texas and Aggy for HS recruits, especially Texas. And Ole Miss for our roster via transfer portal. Kiffin is a tampering fiend.

For sure. Saban was the best recruiter as far as results go that the sport has seen. One of his best talents was being chipped away at with NIL and free agency.
Not surprising he hung it up.
Now Texas and maybe others have a chance to fill the void in LA. with the checkbook.

Time will tell on the net results. But for sure its good hes gone for several reasons.

When Saban was building Alabama he was given carte blanch to outbid everyone for whoever he wanted. When others would hesitate out of fear of the NCAA or being reported, Saban went full bore, confident his buddy Mark wouldn’t do anything (and he was correct, he didn’t).
The last 5 or so years pre-NIL, Alabama could “afford” to underbid for a kid for the opportunity to play for Saban and Alabama. A kid offered (for example) $250k might take $200K + Nick Saban.
Those days are gone. Now when a kid is offered $250k, unless Alabama is coming with $300k or more, Tuscalossa won’t be a destination spot.
