Indeed. We’ve never had a president openly flaunt our laws like this before.

Wrong target. Biden needs to be impeached.

Texas is going to stop paying federal taxes and start arresting feds, then things are going to get real interesting.

The federal government needs Texas more than Texas needs the federal government.

I think it's the first time Texas has done it without relying on Tennesseans but I'm not sure that was his point

If Abbott went on TV and declared a state of emergency exists for the state, and asked for assistance from the states by sending staffing and supplies, would Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma refuse? I know New Mexico wouldn't help with that looney Dem governor.

I don't think you can overstate how important the optics are in struggles of this sort. Where the dominant/controlling faction is never tested to the ultimate degree and it's all held in place on a theoretical/legal/etc. basis, there would be immense pressure on the federal government to quickly bring Texas to heel. And the "good" options for doing that are non-existent.

Update:

Texas National Guard seizes key border crossing point, blocks Feds

quote:

The Texas National Guard has seized control of city property in a key border crossing point and is restricting access by the Border Patrol, the Texas Military Department said in a statement obtained by Fox News's Bill Melugin.

“The Texas National Guard has maintained a presence with security points and temporary barrier in Shelby Park since 2021. The current posture is to prepare for future illegal immigrant surges and to restrict access to organizations that perpetuate illegal immigrant crossings in the park and greater Eagle Pass area," they told the outlet.

"Texas will continue to deploy Texas National Guard soldiers, DPS troopers, and more barriers, utilizing every tool and strategy to respond to President Biden’s ongoing border crisis," Abbott spokeswoman Renae Eze told the New York Post. The city of Eagle Pass, Texas, confirmed the same day that state authorities were taking control of the area. Shelby Park is city property adjacent to the Rio Grande river, the waterway that divides the U.S. from Mexico

eally I'm not, and I've never been a fan of Gov Abbott.

But... the conditions at the border are untenable, as well as the border's effect on all of America is untenable. Gov Abbott is exercising civil disobedience by an elected official, to a degree unknown since the Civil War. He's in absolute violation of federal immigration law, upheld by the SC in 2012 per U.S. v Arizona.

“I’ve been critical of his handling of this-bussing people all over country”

Why would you be critical of this? All these progressive shithole cities declared themselves sanctuary cities.Take them at their word, give them the opportunity to provide sanctuary.
Some good might come out of it,might make them realize they’ve been voting for the wrong party.

Besides ,why should the border states have to bear the brunt of the hordes of illegals-share the pain.
