This is why I think it’ll be Norvell. First, he has a pretty low buyout, especially compared to Lanning. But more importantly, I’m not sure if the market is as available to Alabama as many might think, because the pressure/expectations of directly following Saban are going to be astronomical. Heaven help the new guy if he doesn’t win a national championship and drops a game to Auburn during his first three seasons. And I think coaches know that.

And with that in mind… I think Norvell knows/recognizes FSU is in flux with the ACC. He just saw his undefeated team get left out for that same 1-loss Bama program. And while the blowout to UGA might cause him to pause when joining a conference foe of theirs, I think he’d look at it more like, “I’ll never win a championship at FSU/ACC. I could at Bama/SEC.”

Lanning probably doesn’t think that way about his current program, especially as they join the B1G. Plus the huge buyout. So I’m not surprised it sounds like he’s not taking it.
