Parties get more power, no benefit. Like the crips and the bloods all over again.

It will result in more radical candidates being nominated from each party, and will allow the party leaders to have more control on who can run under the party label.
Personally, I think the jungle primary is a superior system because it results in leaders that are the most reflective of their constituents even if I don’t think it always produces the “best” leaders. Since we are electing representatives, I think the open primary system works.

It gives the power to the people to select the candidates of choice than leaving it up to the political wonks and political class.
That way the voters are not regulated to the party’s choice of a candidate. What about independent and 3rd parties having a say who is in the general election, will voters be allowed to choose a party on the day of the election to vote in a primary. Then what if you want to vote for a Democrat in a local race, but a Republican in another regional race.
Just keep the jungle primary.

Seniority in Congress was the reason given but the lead supporter on WWL earlier this week

Basically, nothing, unless you’re an incumbant. They should all be jungle primaries.
