I like RDS but he handled this campaign horribly.

He should have stayed above the fray and endorsed Trump last winter. Running against Trump and remaining friends / allies is nearly impossible.

So to run a good campaign, all he had to do was endorse Trump?

You're a brilliant political strategist, for sure.

You’re wrong. His biggest mistake was staying above the fray. If you want to beat Trump, you need to attack him the same way he attacks. It’s the unfortunate reality in our reality TV culture.

As soon as the boot thing came out, DeSantis should have called Trump a fat Oompa Loompa.

That's the whole story in a nutshell - although "horrible" might not be a strong enough word to describe how bizarrely inept his campaign has been.

+1.

RDD's opportunity, after Potatobrain's idiotic decision to weaponize the DOJ, was to emphasize the battlefield was changed to 21st century Lawfare, and that Trump, for all his positives, was ill-equipped to handle its legal nuances.

DeSantis is a bright lawyer. It would have put the campaign in his wheelhouse, and he could have remained complimentary of Trump and his policies.

Didn't happen though.
