You don’t actually believe this you’re just stirring up shite. If you did think this way you wouldn’t have put forth the effort you did to help that guy find his dog in one of the best threads I’ve ever seen. Shame on you for attention whoring now go sit in the corner and think about what you’ve done.

What's so special about a dog that it can't be farm raised and eaten?

it is an interesting question. i am not for or against in either direction as long as the practices are humane and ethical.

in my theory, i think a part of it is our evolutionary pact/bargain with the dog.

We have no problem raising, slaughtering, and consuming swine which have been shown to be at and equal if not higher emotional and intelligence level of dogs. They also are quite personable and cute. However, we have never had that pact.

Humans and ancient dog/wolf made a pact. Dog provides security as a guard and is a hunting companion, and human provides safe spot/home/shelter and help acquiring sustainable food sources. it was a mutual beneficial agreement. i think that is still hard ingrained in us so much so that deep down humans look as dogs as partners in a certain sense.

we see similar thing in other species. General, most societies frown on eating cat. We have a pact with them evolutionarily. We provide them safe spaces and they provide vermin control.

guess it depends on how cute an animal has to be before you care if it dies to feed you.

Two things:

1. If I am hungry enough the cutest animal alive is on the menu.

2. Bambi is adorable and yet tastes delicious.

Yeah and the first group is essentially extinct, the second group likes tentacle porn, and the third group are homosexuals.

I believe every frickin' word of it.

A living, breathing pet isn't food but there are countless living, breathing food sources that can be pets.

There's absolutely nothing and I mean nothing wrong with farm raising dogs for cumsumption. There's not one single thing about a dog that it can't be bred for food.

There's no attention whoring here. That's dumb.

Why would you regret eating horse? Did it taste bad? I know a guy who ate it and he said it was delicious.

Good take but what about cultures that don't share that pact?

The Hindus share a pact with cows and we think they're stupid for it.

Same here. Most cows tend to make sure they develop better personalities to compensate, ya know. Just don't let anyone know how well you have "met those cows".

Go talk to folks in those cultures, how are we supposed to know. Why are you upset here when this ban happened in SK? We can’t do anything about it. Go eat a dog if you want to, just do it discreetly. If you don’t like having to hide it go to your government and make a push allowing dog farming

If the dogs are raised and treated humanely, sure. Go ahead and eat them if that's your thing. Pretty sure a big part of the dog meat thing is making sure they suffer as much as possible when killing them. It's a belief over there that this enhances the flavor of the meat. If I had to guess that's one of the reasons they are banning the trade of it.

Any dog that isn't wearing a t shirt over there is considered fair game.

I've read that but I think that happens in China and/or Vietnam. Maybe Korea too but I doubt it. They're actually (as of now) legally farmed and regulated in Korea. The farming is being phased out. The consumption however remains legal. I just don't think they can trade in dog meat any longer.

It’s all in one’s head,I’ve eaten plenty of beef but I wouldn’t like to eat horse. No difference really, they both live in a pasture and eat grass.

I’ve eaten turtle, frog legs and really like alligator but I would never eat a snake.
I shoot deer and wild hogs but I can’t kill anything I raise.

I have chickens and the old hens that should be eaten with dumplings I just keep feeding them until they die of old age.

My old grandpa would really be ashamed of me for that.
