I traded her a deer meat treat for it. There's about 10 more that she needs to catch.

That's the nest in your blackberries? That's awesome. They grow and leave the nest pretty quick. Enjoy!

I have 1 blackberry almost ripe but my plants are FULL of green ones.

So i have 3 strawberry plants in an old whisky barrel out back... well i found that thing is full of termites. i soaked the outside and the tops of the slats with Bifen. Show i dump the plants ad the soil? or can i transplant them to another container, and dump the soil? IDK what do put them in if so. There are a handfull of green berries on them.

Picked the first dewberries of the season this evening.

Potatoes are starting to bloom.

here’s some pretty color you can find in the woods or the roadsides, free and easy

pink wood sorrel (oxalis)
perennial, tolerates shade, improves soils

Ohio spiderwort
Reseeding annual, well behaved, tolerates wet soils, flowers every morning all summer. You can collect the seeds and store in the fridge and re plant in the fall

I got the wood sorrel out of the woods behind my house and the spiderwort out of a ditch

I have some of those growing along the back of my yard. Never thought to transplant them. They're pretty when grouped up like you have them.

I wish Trillium was easy to transplant/grow in pots. There's a good bit in the woods near my house.

Have you ever tried to transplant wild daffodils? I come across them all the time when squirrel/hog hunting in February. I don't think they're native but I've read they grow near old homesites.

I can’t ever get the daffodils to flower. They sprout every year but don’t do anything. This winter I’m going to dig up a bunch of the bulbs and spread them out and see what happens. They may be just too crowded

Trillium is notorious for being impossible to transplant. It grows so slowly any disturbance will kill it. I’ve tried too LOL

here’s one to try though if anyone likes the plant (I do). Wild palmetto is impossible to transplant BUT the seeds are sprouting now. It will look like a tiny green sword. If you find a grove in the woods there should be a few around. Those you can dig and plant and in a few years you’ll have a nice specimen

I got this one out of the woods

and here’s a volunteer I need to move

I have two transplants in pots, I'll take a pic when I get home. They're growing but damnnnn it's slow. They've been in the pots about 1.5 years and have only pushed out two or three new leaves each. I dug them when they were little seedlings like you're describing. Should I put them in the ground while they're small so they're not as shocked when I do?

How long did it take yours to grow that large?

My favorite that I've transplanted from the woods is wax myrtle. They're super easy to get rooted and grow quickly. They smell great, too.

yeah stick them in the ground. They need to be able to set the taproot before they’ll take off. Once they do, it’s on. That one is about 5 years old

if you know where to get wax myrtle I’d like to come get some. There’s none around here and I really like to have them around

Where are you located?

I'm not saying I got mine at Richard K Yancy but they're everywhere at RKY. Also St Catherine's Creek.

Just one one of the palmettos in the ground.

I toted this wax myrtle out of the woods in my pack last February. It was about 6" with a chunk of feeder root about 2" attached to it. They grow really quick. Most of the others are struggling since I planted them too close to a live oak.

I found two baby tomatoes on my plants, and my first green bean is 1/2" long. Peppers and cucumbers are blooming.

Strawberry rocks…. Do they have to be round? Have some limestone rocks leftover from putting in a gate post that can be painted. I have my first ever strawberry and don’t want to lose it.

This damn cold snap has me behind the 8 ball. None of the seed crops I planted have come up yet and it's been over a week.

Of the 66 tomato plants I planted, 12 of them failed. Peppers look good though, although that's surprising that the one crop that loves hot weather did the best in the cold.

I start mine inside, then pull them in and out for weeks to harden off. Once planted outside in this stupid weather, I have cloches I cover them with, or a big sheet of visqueen. To say I baby them is an understatement.

But everything here looks really good. If you aren't able to baby them, you may want to start a little bit later. It's such a crapshoot. However, I took a chance and planted before March 15th.

You’re way ahead of me with cucumbers and beans. And my peppers also seem to be just slowly moving along. But I noticed my first tomatoes this morning!

Big Beef, Roma, and San Marzano

Beans and cucumbers have only just sprouted within the past week.

Sunflowers and onions are looking pretty good. Also have some mint in a little pot behind the sunflowers. And I have some weeds growing in a small pot behind the onions.

The blackberries, oh my. Gonna have plenty of those. My soil pH correction for the blueberries must’ve done its job cause they are looking great right now. Much better than they were. And the strawberries are still chugging along and giving us some beautiful berries.

My Meyer lemon is just exploding with growth and flowers (FINALLY! Only took 3 years). Here it is hanging out with all my dallisgrass.

I need to make a trip to the garden center. I’m gonna need more pine straw. But so far everything is looking pretty good. Fighting off a few slugs and snails here and there but they haven’t been a huge problem.

ETA: I realize I need to do some serious weeding. But I’ve barely been home lately. Work and my boy’s soccer schedule has been keeping me pretty busy. In fact I’m leaving for Lake Chuck for one of his tournaments in a few minutes. So this morning was my first chance in a few days to get out in the garden.

You mean those 10 weeds in the sunflower bed?

Everything looks great everybody.
