Low tire presser system/Light

We have a 2013 Toyota 4 runner that the sensors are bad. The tire store we use, says it would cost aprox. $200. ea. to replace them and they would need all day to calibrate them.
He also said most people do without.
Anybody had this done... and was it worth it?

I have one that’s bad on my daughter’s car. I just gave her a gauge and told her to check them daily. So far so good.

I have two Toyota's both with TPMS. Your tire guy is right, they're known to fail easily/frequently and more $ than it's worth to replace. I ignored the dash lights for a while and ended up pulling the instrument cluster and removing that particular bulb.

if its you yes, if its a dumb arse woman than no since they never pay attention to anything about vehicles, they just turn the key and drive them into the ground.
open glove box and there is a bundle of wires there, simply put a jumper on the wires and it turns off the TPMS idiot light for good. if you ever sell it you can just remove the jumper and restore the TPMS light to work again.
youtube has videos showing how to do it, i did that on my 06 4runner
also dont forget the spare tire may also have a sensor. seen guys forget to check the spare when trying to figure out why the light is on.

Walmart or Sams will replace and calibrate new ones for about $30 each. Generic, but they work - I have 3 or 4 now on couple of Toyotas.
Not compatible with BMW or Mercedes tho

Just 20 years ago when you were driving your truck, you did not have an electronic sensor to your computer on the dash.
You checked by either kicking it or using a tire gauge.
That’s what you should tell her to do and forget paying the money to get a sensor that’s going to go bad again.

I had one changed at Chabill’s last year and I believe the cost was a little over $100

The tire sensor is a great safety feature. Also, a pain in the arse.

yep, its way more than just the cost of the $40 sensor
tire removed and reinstalled and getting it balanced ($30+)
then it must be programed to talk to your vehicles computer (thats gonna be at least another $50)
if you get all 4 done, 5 if there is one on the spare, and you will easily spend over $300 to replace them all.
they have batteries in them, and those batteries only last for so long before it fails and you need a new one.

You can get Toyota brand tpms for $50 for all 4 on eBay etc. buy them, bring to tire shop. Call around for cheapest price. Shouldn't take all day.

Just did this for my mother in laws car.
Sensors were around $50 for OEM toyota from ebay.
Discount tire changed them for free, as we had the tires mounted there originally - or maybe they were just nice to my mother in law?

Ford pickup 4wd that has same problem. Second time. $700 to fix. I just ignore it. Only a written warning no sound. The manual says how to reset them but yo I have to be an engineer to understand it and the patience of a wait to do it. Freeeeeak that! Like ignoring commercials on TV now.
