Very sad story.

I know the DA and Coroner.

Unbelievable how Parra admitted that he killed his wife, pleaded to a lesser charge, and will only serve 18 months in prison. The remaining sentence (42 months) he will be on probation. This according to CBS. Parents accepted the plea deal and got exactly what they wanted . Admission of guilt and got custody of their grandkids.

He also lost his livelihood, and likely won’t see his kids again, at least until they’re adults.

Of course, I’m biased, but it still doesn’t seem like enough.

That’s him. My fam grew up the other side of the bayou directly across from the church. Still make a trip back few times a year to Cottonport.

I need to head back up there sometime soon. My aunt and uncle passed within a couple months of each other a few years ago, and I haven’t been back since the funerals.

I hope when boys are both adults they beat the hell out of their dad for this. He had zero remorse and should never see outside prison walls again

Sorry for the loss. Something about being there that just brings a peace or clarity if you know what I am trusting to say. Good for the soul.

Sorry for this situation.

I just looked and don't see that program on in my area right now. Maybe I'll get to see it eventually. Reminds me, whatever happened to that show, I think it was called Killing Fields - had some Louisiana guys on there trying to solve a cold case. That series was pretty interesting.

5 years is max for his no contest plea to negligent homicide. I think the family gave its blessing to the plea and got custody of the kids. The retired FBI agent who died of Covid was a good friend of mine in college. His efforts led to solving it.

stuff like this fires me up.

a year and a half for shooting someone in the head and killing them.

i'd rather risk going for a longer sentence and striking out over 1 year or whatever, but from what i understand it was more about getting custody of the kids. so i assume by him admitting he did it means he completely loses his kids. so that makes sense.

i don't understand how any woman can be with a pos who also looks like he does. he's disgusting.

how can any woman stand by a guy who killed the mother of his children and have no regrets?

also, some of the people investigating this crap looked really bad. one guy said they didn't question the husband because he didn't answer their calls.

then another guy didn't test the gun and his response was he just didn't. that guy was super defensive by the way.

Bingo. They were never “out to get Dustin”. They said from the get go that they wanted to clear their daughters name of suicide, and prove how botched the investigation was.

The da and coroner are ineffectual spineless losers. As a rule, coroners (in Louisiana) are lazy and go-along to get along types..district attorneys are only interested in closing cases and do not give a damn about victims families and justice. It's all about the votes and job security baby! Keep up with your local district court and be prepard to be pissed off.
Hell as long as our local da has a fifth of charter at his camp, all is good with the world..frick justice.

There are good one and bad ones no different than any other profession. Why don’t you do something about it instead bitching about it on a message board. You know only what the TV show that claims to be news wants you to know.

I'll try to catch this one on a streaming service. What was the murderers motive for killing her?

What exactly would you want him to do to bring more accountability to the fiefdom rulers of Louisiana politik?

Historically, Avoyelles Parish is one of the most corrupted in LA, which makes it in the running for most corrupted in the nation. Nepotism is rampant in that area.

This story is typical Avoyelles Parish stuff. I never understood how the entire investigation just stopped with some Joe blow Cottonport cop. How did the sheriff’s office never take over the case.

I will always call Avoyelles home but damn I’m glad I left there.

The Norris Greenhouse Jr. case still pissses me off. Greenhouse and Derrick Stafford were Marksville Deputy Marshalls in 2015. They were in pursuit
of Chris Few which turned into a high-speed car chase. Once Few was finally pulled over, Greenhouse and Stafford fired 18 rds. into the car killing Few's son, 6-yr old Jeremy Mardis who was in the back seat.

Greenhouse and Stafford were both charged with murder. GH's dad was the Asst. DA for Avoyelles Parish and before trial, Greenhouse pled guilty to negligent homicide and was sentenced to 7.5 yrs. He only served 2.5 yrs and was released in 2019. Stafford was found guilty and is currently serving 40 yrs. Greenhouse Sr. died a few years, and Jr. now manages his late father's law firm. Further proof when it comes to being involved in criminal activity, it's all about who you know and how much money you have.

Where was Parra originally from?
Were the kids left in the home after he shot her?
How long after did he remarry? And to whom?
Did he receive any life insurance $ ?
God Bless Steve Missy and family. That's a lot to endure.
