Make sure when you pack them that they are tight in the box. They don’t need any movement at all. Don’t skimp on the boxes or packaging. Cut a corner somewhere else if you need to.

The cardboard boxes from uhaul/home depot/lowes work for storage but aren't stackable. The sides start to give at some point and are only good for short term storage. If you aren't dealing with expensive vinyl you can use cardboard and stack on top of other things. If moving valuable vinyl, I would go with something like the Container Store boxes, they are bomb proof.
