Agree, so they walked miles in the caves to end up under tsalal? Come the frick on

Something I saw reading the Reddit thread that dropped my memory that I thought about in real time. If they're freezing to death and there's multiple trucks available why not just get in the truck and turn on the heater? Amazing detecting. Regular Sherlock Holmes stuff.
I wish I was able to watch this in real time and post with y'all but that was not possible. However part of what I was doing was re-watching episode 1 and 2 with my mother-in-law and it really is insane how much promise the show started off with only to fall off a cliff on three and then fall into the Marianas trench on six

Well, Danvers kinda forgot about Tsalal

I was convinced they had found the Ice Temple from Ocarina of Time wandering around down there.

And as called out before, but we can’t pass over how fricking ridiculous…
Navarro suddenly remembers her native name when she gets to the janitors house?![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

As we saw in that tweet from a few pages ago, people will say everything that doesn't make sense is due to the magic of Ennis.
A funny quote I stole from Reddit
Also, the mine came out somewhat good in the end. They didn't kill Annie K.

For real. They wrote a story about female empowerment where every woman is more horrible than the last and the only good character is a token white boy that gets traumatized for going to work.

After this season, I hope nobody speaks ill of season 2 ever again.

The Danvers son side story was so unearned and cheap. There are just so many problems with this show.

I know it’s hard to poke holes in this masterpiece, but the whole talk about the pollution helping them get through the permafrost seems a little ridiculous.
They were drilling cores into solid ice, so not sure what the hell the mines water was doing to improve that.
Also was the baby crying the kid that Danvers ends up raising that dies?
Weird to focus on the baby crying with no explanation.

Was her son the polar bear? I still can’t figure out the purpose of it. Maybe I missed it.

I thought she heard it during her desert vision. I think she said she never knew it earlier in the season.
I wonder how she’s going to learn to spell it.

You know how a lot of shows with mysteries will make the opening scene of the series be something that holds hidden meaning and is almost a hint at the answer to the entire story?
This show did exactly that except they never make any sort of connection and it just stands out as more weird shite they flung at the wall, no doubt with the intended excuse being “its up to interpretation” as if that is some sort of master stroke in storytelling.
quote:
I actually think you’re giving the show too much credit. This wasn’t the show flinging shite at the wall; it was the show explicitly lying to the viewer.
We see a bunch of caribou suddenly run off a cliff, which is strange behavior. Not long afterwards, a bunch of scientists wander off naked into a blizzard and die, which is also strange behavior. They must be connected, right?
Nope! Actually the men are forced to run off naked before inexplicably freezing together in a corpseball, and the caribou, well… I guess pollution picked that exact moment to take effect on all of them simultaneously?
Awful. Just awful.
quote:
This explanation for what happens in this season is a shitload of handwaving and saying “just turn your brain off”
quote:
Simultaneous “turn your brain off” from fans and “it’s so layered, complex and deep” from critics.
Its success evidences Idiocracy as a prophecy coming to pass.

Here's the translation. (The drawing is better than the quote)
quote:
Summary of season 4, it had an engaging mystery, a
extremely rich to be exalted and an excellent cast, they promised
everything and delivered nothing.

The baby in the room was Wheeler’s kid that Danver then raised up to be a bratty Eskimo lesbian.

Couldn’t be, too old and she has a sister and grandmother, which Prior is married to the sister.
Someone made a good call, maybe the younger boy that died in the car wreck?
But again, WTF? No explanation.

Rolling Stone: True Detective: Night Country’ Just Gave the Series Its Best Finale Ever
quote:
So in one sense, Issa López didn’t have a very high bar to clear in order to resolve the intertwined stories of Night Country. But because this season leaned harder into questions of fact versus fantasy, she made the task more difficult on herself than Nic Pizzolatto ever did.
quote:
From this vantage point, the finale soared over wherever the bar was set. It feels like the appropriate conclusion to these stories, and for these characters. It leaves some of its mysteries ambiguous, while at the same time does a far better job than the original season did in terms of distinguishing reality from otherworldly forces.
quote:.
Yet even within this, López and company leave a lot of wiggle room for grander explanations. Beatrice not only denies leaving Annie’s severed tongue at Tsalal, but seems mystified by the question. Even if you buy the suggestion that Hank — who, working on behalf of Silver Sky, spirited the body away from the ice cave — cut out Annie K’s tongue, the delivery truck driver found it at the lab long before any cops arrived on the scene. More likely, the entity responsible for the tongue is the same responsible for Navarro constantly being taunted by oranges (a beloved snack of her mother and sister, and something where, if you peel it all in one go, resembles the spiral symbol); for the visions that put both Navarro and Danvers into peril out on the ice; and for all the other weirdness lurking on the periphery.

They did try to retcon Leah's story when earlier in the show it was established her dad was with Danvers...for...reasons
