Also a few months ago we were going to Desi Vega in metairie (not my choice).

I looked at the wine list online specifically for that one and thought "Hey that's pretty good, there's some decent stuff on there"

When we got there the wine list I was handed was a complete joke. None of the stuff I was interested in was on it and it was filled with Metairie McMansion trash wine like Belle Glos and Meomi. I laughed pretty hard

I’m just trying to see where the locals are going for a general night out in search of some local flair

you are not

funny, it's always the same crew making fun of Metry food. No one is saying it's on the level of Nola, by any stretch.

where do we go when not wanting to chance a smashed car window, fricking up the car on a pothole or getting car jacked?

Taj Mahal
Ruth's
Zocalo
Yakuza House
Daiwa Sushi Bar

to name a few

Alright that is pretty funny.

I don't...technically... live in Lakeview but pretty damn close. I concede your point

No station 6? I’d argue it serves up some of the best seafood in Nola

Okay. If no Italian, I will take Desi Vega’s. If no steak, I will take Austin’s.

Station 6

+1 for “Metairie”

Agree on Rosedale. Need to get back there to try more of the menu.

I wouldn’t put Ruth’s on a “best of” list. Went recently and was underwhelmed. Ribeye wasn’t anything amazing. Sides tasted like they came from frozen. Service was lackluster. I’d rather Desi.

Yep, sides tasted pretty crappy including the dessert.
