Two finalists in my opinion--

Keanu Reeves ('nuff said) in "Dracula"--surrounded by folks like Anthony Hopkins and Winona Ryder who either are British or can actually do an accent, he is, simply, Keanu.

Dick van Dyke in "Mary Poppins". C'mon, you all watched it as kid. I rewatched this many times as an adult as my youngest son loved it. Worst Cockney accent in the history of Western Civilization. So bad that 4 years later when he did "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" he lived in England, was the son of an Englishman, had 2 kids with British accents, but did not even attempt an accent.

(credit PBeard for idea in discussing Tom Cruise's accent or lack thereof in Valkyrie, which I have yet to see but definitely want to...)

I assume you mean in "The Big Easy". Yes, that earns a five-star suck award.

Nicolas Cage in "Con Air."

All the women in "Steel Magnolias" except for Dolly Parton, although her accent was Tennessee rather than Louisiana.

I've heard Bostonians complain about about Tim Robbins' accent in "Mystic River." I don't know how bad it was--it sounded Bostonian enough to me, but I'm not a native.

Dennis Quaid was horrible.

But mine was Tom Cruise in Far and Away. Supposedly Irish but I don't know what that was.....well, I do know, it was gay and horrible.

Cool Runnings, all of the accents kind of fluctuate throughout the movie.

Wouldn't you be disappointed if it sounded anything but fake? I mean, it's Con-fricking-Air.

Keanu Reeves in Devils Advocate, was supposedly doing some kind of southern accent...really really bad.

Also Sean Penn in All the Kings men
