Annual trip over to Mississippi.

Attala County
Pop Up Blind
.270

Sitting in a cutover looking down a fire lane. The deer better walk out right in front of me, I can only see about a 20 yard patch of ground.

Got a doe. A 6 pt was chasing her but he could use a year or two so I took her.

My arse is 2" off the water, feet in it, in a metal chair in the swamp. I'm jealous.

I’m not that mad at them anymore.

8 gobblers just came through.

I just got a 2nd doe this evening at sunset.

I don't know about Louisiana or Mississippi but the does are being chased off food plots by bucks.

I keep seeing little bucks. 5 in two hunts. No big ones and few does.

Got as far down in the river bottom as we could this afternoon, was still huffing pretty good. Nada. Gf’s son slept in the stand for most of the time, I think that makes him the smart one.

Back out tomorrow, my son and paw in law will join in the afternoon, maybe we can increase our odds.

Same. Its dead here. None of the mature bucks are around on camera. Not even at night. Been 9 days since the big 8 showed. Only showing a few resident does with yearlings. The scrapes must've been pre rut because they went dry. From what ive seen the last 4 years we are just about to pop off. Now until jan 10 is where i get daytime mature buck pics Just went to get down and spotted a deer 75 yds away. Now im here for a bit longer…

Exact same thing with me. I went from several bucks on camera every day/night to nothing but a couple resident does and yearlings. I hope you’re right. I’ve been pretty discouraged the last 10 days or so. Haven’t even really been hunting.

My scrapes are all dried up too. Seems like heavy scraping was about 3-4 weeks ago. My thought is that we’re in the primary peak right now and they’re locked down. I’m hoping they’ll get back into a seeking phase over the next couple of weeks and the activity will pick back up. Then hopefully a rest/recovery/eat food phase before the end of season.
