My family is split with my moms side coming from old Esso Oil stock and my dads side mainly coming from Texaco Convent into Shell Convent. Let’s just say Holidays can be quite awkward with arguments getting heated about whose processes are better and who runs a better unit. My Grand father was part of the turn around back in the 60s that converted all the valves into the new “fire safe” modern standard. Which is ironic because 30 something years later he nephew was part of effort to extinguish the blaze on that cold winter day. Even though my roots at Exxon are deep I’d say I’m more of a Shell man with my Grandfather on my dads side being an engineer at Convent for 30 years and then his son (my uncle) being an operator at Giesmar for another 30. What about y’all?

Dad retired from Citgo. It’s pretty much all the same stuff depending on the pipeline.

Is this preference so deep that you will by gas from one but not the other?

Do people have a preferred gas that they buy?

There's some shite hole stores that I won't buy gas from, but my preference after that is based on the cheapest or convenience.

Exxon, and it goes all the way back to when the Chalmette refinery was Tenneco.

ETA: Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever bought gasoline from Shell before.

100% Shell family not because of any employment connection but because of their technical partnership with Scuderia Ferrari and we are an F1 family and are Tifosi.

Texaco. Plus, you could get hotel rooms at Holiday Inn with your Texaco card.

Exxon gas was shite gas.
