Denbrock to make 2+ Mil per year

Multiple sources have informed FootballScoop that Denbrock's pact with the Fighting Irish has been structured to pay the veteran offensive play-caller more than $2 million per year; the total value of the deal, several sources with intimate knowledge of the proceedings told FootballScoop, was guaranteed at approximately $9 million, pending completion of the deal's full term.

Denbrock has ties with much of Notre Dame's staff
quote:
He previously worked with current Notre Dame offensive assistants Gino Guidugli and Mike Brown at Cincinnati as well as current Irish defensive backs coach Mike Mickens, also with the Bearcats.
He was set to make 1.8 per year on his new deal. Notre Dame upped the ante to 4yrs for 9 mil. So either Denbrock wanted to move closer to his home and family or CBK didn’t push Woodard to match it. 2.25 million per year for an OC who some doubt as the reason behind 2023’s offensive historic numbers is a lot of money to match.

Denbrock is right to strike while the iron is hot and he did, good for him
He got a nice deal for someone closer to the end of his career with no real head coach aspiration
Get as much money as you can
LSU matched what Aggies were offering but at some point if he wants to go even higher than lsu needs to drop out of a bidding war
When you pay your head coach what you are paying him you trust that he can make those replacement hires and the structure you have in place makes that transition smooth

Not trying to shite on Denbrock, he did a fine job here for 2 years.
But holy shite, everyone is getting caught up in the moment with this guy.
About to be 60 years old and this is the first time he's ever been seen as the "it guy".
He's a good OC. He's not great. He's never been great. He had a great season while teamed up with a Heisman QB, 2 first round WRs, and the QB whisperer Joe Sloan.
He's probably better than what they recently had, so ND should still be happy.
But if they think they're getting the type of offense we put out this year, oh buddy, it's gonna be a rude awakening for them.

He wanted to get closer to home plus getting paid didn't hurt to do it. Somewhat similar to our own Tickfaw Kim Mulkey.

CKM won championships already. What has Denbrock won?

Everyone is just mad at him bc he lied to me on the phone.

Greatest OC of all time award from the university of Notre Dame?

Denbrock and Kelly are close enough that I'm sure Kelly had a good idea of whether or not it would have been possible to keep him, if he wanted to.

I mean I get it. Denbrock sees an assclown in house have the 101 ranked defense and get to be the highest paid dc in the country. He has the top offense and we weren’t willing to give him 2 million.

But we’ll pay House 2 million a year . BK is a joke

Denbrock strikes e as a guy who needs elite QB play to succeed. His offense last year wasn’t impressive. I don’t like seeing him go, but, I think we have better in the building.

Yep. At one time Matt Canada was the hottest OC in the business.

Isn’t this true for all coaching staffs?

Had Cincinnati in the playoffs. I think he's excellent, and so does Brian Kelly.
That said, Kelly and Denbrock are friends. If he thought he COULD keep him, he would've. If he thought he SHOULD keep him, he would.
They've parted ways in the past and have again. If you look at Kelly's history, he hires great assistants. And when he makes a mistake, as all coaches do, he remedies it.

He needs to remedy that cross eyed dickhead DC

I thank Denbrock for his contributions to LSU the last two years, and of course his role in our offense this year — it was a fun ride.
Unless he meets LSU, I wish him all the success at ND. No LSU fan should be upset at this; BK was right not to match that pay.

How is this relevant to wanting to go home?

Can’t blame him for striking while the iron is hot and getting to move home to boot.
He is a good OC. I’d have rather he stayed. But face it. A lot of his play calls led to covered receivers. He was fortunate to have a cruise missile at quarterback who could bail him out by scrambling for 50 yards at the drop of a hat.
