If looking at Thermador for a range, I suggest looking at it in person compared to other top of the line appliances. In my experience the cast iron was lighter and the knob components had ABS in the "guts". I opted for heavier cast an all metal knobs as a criteria I wouldn't waiver on given my experiences with ABS in high heat locations. JMHO.
