Why do golfers put 2 wheels in the grass when they park their cart?

The cart path could be 10 feet wide. Or they could just be playing by themselves….
But golfers just have this instinct to pull half the cart in the grass.
For those that do this, and I assume it’s a majority….are you allergic to concrete? Can you not get your club unless you are firmly planted in grass?
Or….
You just don’t give a $#:+?

You'd assume wrong. If it's cart paths only, I don't drive on the course. If it's not cart paths only I drive to my ball in the fairway

If it’s dry and I do this, it’s because I think the other cart will need to pass me after they hit and I assume there’s less wear from two tires slowly rolling to a stop than four swerving at full speed to get around me.
If it’s wet, then I wouldn’t do it.

I see people do it all the time around tees and greens most of the time. Makes no sense.

Less wear and tear on the bottom of my shoes. I’d rather walk in grass than scuff the cleat portion of the shoes.

This is simple it is so the other carts can go by if needed. Now you should try not to rip up the grass and do it somewhere that makes sense.

I do it out of courtesy for anyone who comes driving down the cart path and needs to get by. No matter where or how this happens at least one of the carts is going to have to put at least 2 wheels in the grass.

This is a Louisiana thing. I’ve never understood it one bit. They do the same with vehicles regardless of the neighborhood road. Very trashy

This seems like a really stupid thing to complain about.

I’ll go off the path by the greens if it’s summertime and I’m looking for shade. And usually, the turf under a tree is bare from lack of sun so I don’t feel guilty about it. Fairways and tees always on the path, unless going around another cart. Also, get peeved when another cart gets off the path right past the tee boxes and drives up the fairway to their tee shots.

I see it all the time and one of my regulars(yac) always does it. I will never understand why this is a thing. Carts can go around just fine. Superintendents hate this.
