For every person that had UP3 surgery and it resolved their sleep apnea, there are probably twice to 3 times as many that it didn't work. There is a reason that surgery is rarely done anymore. Horrible solution for treating sleep apnea.
Tell the board about the recovery. Can you think of a more miserable time in your life?
What the frick are you talking about? The two people that had that procedure said it was painful and not for everyone.
I had more scar tissue than healthy tissue in my throat. I could breath out of one nostril since childhood. I literally thought people had a dominant nostril.
So frick right off. For some people UPPP is the right choice, especially if they are young with no comorbidities associated with apnea.
Get over yourself.
Talk to your ENT. They likely know more than you do.

Sounds like you’ve got some weight to lose. Build some muscle.

I've had my CPAP for a while now and it's made a world of difference.
My AHI was 69.9 (which means my apnea was waking my up 69.9 times per hour) during my apnea test (for anyone who doesn't know, anything above 30 is considered severe). When I got my CPAP I used the mouth/nose mask and it brought my apnea down to 10-30 (which is not good, but markedly better). A few months ago I tried the nose-only mask and it's dropped my AHI down to below 5 (averaging 2-3).
My apnea was so severe that I could "sleep" for 13 hours, wake up at 6am, then trying to not fall asleep at my desk by noon. Now I sleep 7-8 hours per night and rarely even yawn during the day.
It takes a while to get used to it, the nearly immediate results (I began to feel different within a week or two) helped motivate me to get used to it.

You won't notice a big difference.... but once you get used to the CPAP you will notice a BIG difference when you don't use it.

I think the Inspire has limitations on who can get the implant. Harder to get qualified than the commercials would imply.
There's new FDA criteria that allows up to a bmi of 40 and ahi 100.
However, not all insurances have adopted the new criteria. Most still follow older criteria with a bmi cut off of either 32 or 35 pending the insurance, and ahi upper limit of 65. Though on a case by case basis these can be appealed. There's also an required anatomy study as well.
The device works, but it's a process and lots of hoops. If you tolerate cpap, stick with cpap. But for those struggling with it, its worth looking into.

Life changer… use the cpap every night ! you just added 10 years to your life, congrats

Make sure to clean your equipment and change the filter regularly. Some DME suppliers (for hoses & supplies) can be pretty sketchy. This year I had a new sleep study with an excellent new staff & they also directed me to a much better and easier to deal with DME supplier.

I can't sleep without it..
I came to post this. I’ve been using one for 16 years and have been without my CPAP five nights since I started using it. I can tell you each night that I didn’t have my CPAP b/c I was up all night.

How is taking speed (ie, ADHD meds) supposed to help you sleep?? Especially if taking in the afternoon. You said “in spite of taking” as if you think these might help with sleep.

No medication for sleeping. Use the nasal mask and sleep pretty darn well. Struggled with standard face mask - didn't need it - just nasal.
