My boots have been riden very hard
His nails and grooming him is a damn rodeo. He hates it and I hate spending money for someone else to do it….

Get a 6qt Tupperware from Walmart and put a bottle of peroxide, a box of baking soda, and a small bottle of dawn.
If dog gets sprayed dump the whole bottle of peroxide, whole box of baking soda, and several squirts of dish soap into the empty Tupperware. Rub the paste into the dog asap. Let sit for 10 mins then rinse it off or get him into some water.
My DD got sprayed about 2 months ago and that combo knocked out 95% of the smell instantly.
Now all collars have to be replaced immediately but that’s easy.

I mentioned the skunk kit to my wife, she has informed me we will be getting a new dog if he is sprayed

They are pointers, but they are young pointers only having worked pen raised…..I’m seeing a lot of bumped birds trying to get to close which is why I have a longer choke plan
If you shoot birds the dog bumps, you are teaching the dog that it’s OK to bump birds. Then you will never have a dog that holds its points. Rule of thumb is to never shoot bumped birds over a young dog. Once dog is older and steady on points, it’s OK to shoot a bumped bird if the dog makes an occasional mistake.

quote:I took some “good” pics with my phone on the two trips I went on, but wick’s camera was a different level, if you’re into that sort of thing. (Wick took my sig pic on a duck hunt in SoDak)
Have fun post some pics when you get back
If you have a good camera or are with someone who does make sure it makes the trip. As much as I enjoyed the hunts, playing around with the camera, taking pictures of the hunts, random wildlife, or driving around and pulling over 10x to get a really good sunset sticks out equally as much. Kind of like that old Jamey Johnson song, all the photoshop in the world can’t do it justice as what it looked like in real life, but that picture can jog back the memory.

I’m in charge of working the dogs, so I am also bringing a good camera. Not sure if I got this assignment because I’m good with dogs, or they think I suck with a gun. I obviously will have my gun, but my dad can take care of the bird shooting for me for all I care
I’m excited to see some of the deer on his property. He killed some absolute HAMMERS out there this year

It wasn’t as bad as I expected. My brand new tt25x that he was wearing has to ride in 2 ziplock bags though. I changed the strap, the antenna holder, and let it sit in coffee and baking soda for 4 weeks and it still smells like skunk.

My shoulder hurts just looking at that box of shells haha

Good
You are rt on the shells, 1500 fps and 1 3/8 load ... they will be snappy. Put those in for 2nd shot as a hail mary. I am more than happy w the usual high brass 1 1/4 oz 1200 fps load.

Today was a great day. My dog had a point 300 yards out that he held and outworked all the older dogs that kinda quit today on day two

That looks like a great day. Enjoy.
I was in on a great Canada hunt yesterday, 6 man limit of greater canadas in 90 minutes in a wheat field. They make a thud when they hit, you don't want one landing w you ??
