Moore Maker.
They make a slim 2-1/2" single lock blade.

I have a couple ZT’s and a Benchmade Infidel as my EDCs.

For your old man, it is hard to go wrong with a Case. I bought mine one last year for Fathers Day and he loved it. Case kind of resonates with older folks and are fricking good knives. Hell I have probably 5 old Case knives from my Great Grandfather. Case has some modern locking knives and also some of their more 'traditional' knives that lock as well.

But there are tons of other good suggestions in this thread that other baws have mentioned. Working in an office, I try to carry something that isn't quite as noticeable to those that are nervous around shite like that. Outside of the office I have been carrying a Spyderco Para 3 LW for a while now. My price point is normally not that that high for a knife as I actually use them unlike some that just collect to look at them and keep them in a safe. If you don't want to go for a Case....I would suggest Benchmade, Kershaw, Spyderco(those are all easy to find). Besides those you could browse Cold Steel, Boker, Ontario, Buck, Civivi, WE, Kizer, and SOG. I mention Civivi, WE, and Kizer even though they are Chinese made. Bang for your buck and having such a huge selection of cheaper knives, they can be hard to beat at their price. Fit and finish is normally great as well. Hope this helps.

Love the handle on the infidels but not a huge fan of the double edge blade. Also he’d have to bump up his budget when getting in to automatics. The shootout in blue is my current edc.

I’d get the old trustworthy Case Sodbuster….i have carried one in my pocket for damn near 50 years now. If you want something a little smaller get the Case Sodbuster Jr.
They come in all kinds of handle materials, depending on how much you want to spend. I’ve got the old traditional black plastic handle, but you can get stag horn for under $100. If he doesn’t loose it, it should last the rest of his life.

Good knife. Not even close to ending the thread though. Tacky.
Okay maybe that was a bit much but if I could only have one knife for the rest of my life it would be my Endura with the Emerson Wave.

Spyderco. Cheap and quality EDC is probably the Endura or Delica. Fits the bill but much higher quality. If you're a OT Baller then look into their other higher end American made blades.

Knifeworks is probably the finest knife shop in the state. If there's another even remotely close I don't know what it is.

I agree. For the money, hard to beat.
Now, if OP wants to go above $200, closer-to $300 and above ... Pro-Tech Godfather or a Microtech Magnacut.

Benchmade if you want an overpriced product still getting by on a name they built over 20 years ago.
Price wise, Civivi is the best bang for the buck these days. Can get Benchmade quality at less than 1/2 the price (the Clavi is my office carry).
Kizer is a tad bit more expensive, but really good (that is WE Knives cheaper brand)
Want something between $100 & $400, that is where the good stuff is.
WE Knives are great.
Arcform makes an awesome knife (my daily carry).
Upper level Bokers are hard to beat.
Olamic makes a couple and I love my fixed blade from them.
There are too many more to list, but those are the ones I like these days.

If time permits, I suggest reaching out to Dan Stanchfield, @trackerdan on Instagram, or through his trackerdan website. His wife is actress Kelly Carlson (Kimber from NipTuck, etc.) He's a warrior, and he and Kelly literally make all the knives they sell and can personalize something. Their focus is not folding knives but they make small sheathed multi-purpose tested and true knives. They are extremely approachable, will respond quickly and offer good advice too.

Ok, I've put some more thought into this so here we go.
For a non-automatic under $100, the CJRB Ekko, with titanium bolsters. AR RPM9 is a good steel at that price range. I have one w carbon fiber handles. Easy to keep razor sharp w just stropping. Several methods to deploy the blade. Locks up tight.
Automatic under $200, the Kershaw Launch 18. A little smaller. USA made w aluminum handles and CPM 154 steel. Gets very solid reviews. Will be my next purchase.
USA made under $200, Spyderco Para 3. This one has S45VN steel, which is bad arse. I have one with a lesser steel. Great knife.
Simple US made flipper, Buck Sprint Pro in s30v. I like this one for under $200. I have the Legacy version and carry it regularly. Good looking knife.
Sorry for geeking out. Let me know what else you way want to know about.

If you have to fold it, your knife is too small.
