Will Sheppard (Already in portal)
Zavion Thomas (soon come)

Both would be fantastic additions and Thomas would finally give us a proven elite return man as well

Sheppard is a stud. Both would be solid additions and much needed.

Thomas is a must get if he jumps in the portal

We give up so much potential yardage with the fair catches and when Greg doesn’t catch the ball and let’s it roll

I thought I read Zavion was given a big NIL deal this year at MSU. Do they have to pay that back?

I saw that as well.

Mississippi State wide receiver Zavion Thomas has reportedly struck a significant NIL deal, even with the Bulldogs teetering on the edge of being knocked out of the bowl conversation and the program in the hunt for a new head coach following the firing of Zach Arnett.

didn't we also already offer Detraveon Brown from North Texas, originally from Shreveport?

Correction... i think we offered Ja'Mori Maclin instead of Brown.

I vaguely recall someone stating that NIL deals could not be contingent on attendance at a specific school.

at least on paper. I’m curious to know if any RB experts know if that’s bs or not.

I think I've read that they are one year deals in a huge majority of deals also.

That's true. Teams try to get around this by making NIL deals for short periods of time, like per semester.

On the longer ones, they may make weekly in-person attendance at events required, which the player would be unable to do if they transfer.

Those numbers with that offense that Arnett was running at MSU are like 7 for 120.

I can understand Thomas because we need a return man, but why are we taking portal WRs otherwise? Our depth and talent is unreal at this position. I’d rather get the young guys some reps and take every DB/DL in sight. I remember a time when redshirt freshman could make an impact.

This must mean Brian Thomas has a very favorable grade from the NFL.

Not really a proven player left on the roster. Lots of talent, on paper, but not much production.

That said, they should only go after elite players that can potentially be WR1 or contribute in the return game, which both of these players fit that criteria.

I think both Thomas and Sheppard along with Lacey (if he comes back, I think he has all the tools to be a clear SEC 1 or 2) and Hilton (who has upside up the gazoo), then you have 4 WR's with SEC experience ready to go.
