Dead at 65... Obviously, he was never the epitome of health...

One of the last great poets of rock n' roll...

Requiescat!!

RIP Shane.
The Pogues were great. If I Should Fall from Grace with God is a masterpiece and one of the best albums ever made.

Did anyone else catch their set at Voodoo Fest in 2008 or 2009?
Shane was too drunk to perform. The other members pulled him offstage and I could see him backstage swilling Budweisers, one after the next.

He wrote incredible music but the demons were always apparent and ultimately too much to overcome.

He was just released from hospital this past weekend but he looked very frail. I figured he wouldn't be with us much longer.
Springsteen was in Dublin a few months ago and visited him at his home. You could tell then he didn't look well but I was hoping he'd pull through.

I'm pretty sure he actually died on stage in 1989 in Japan, but RIP - he was one of a kind for sure

Nola resident Spider Stacy's Poguetry are great live - hope they play some more live shows in the future even just as a tribute to Shane

It was Christmas Eve, babe
In the drunk tank
An old man said to me
"Won't see another one"
And then he sang a song
The Rare Old Mountain Dew
I turned my face away
And dreamed about you

Nobody else could pull off what Shane did.
I guess I know how I'll spend my day today.

Fox news just mentioned his death and played a bit of" FairyTale".
The regular morning guy seemed pretty obvious that he was a fan

Raise a pint to a legend!

His last photo was awful, I didn’t recognize him.

Looked like Senator Dianne Feinstein with a beard.

“And the next time I see you we'll be down at the Greeks
There'll be whiskey on Sunday and tears on our cheeks
For it's stupid to laugh and it's useless to bawl
'Bout a rusty tin can and an old hurley ball”

Every Shane MacGowan photo was awful if you are going to be honest.

Pogues guitarist Phillip Chevron once said "People have given Shane 6 months to live since he was 19".

RIP Shane

Living in Louisiana, this is saying a lot

I have never seen a person so drunk yet somehow still conscious and able to speak than his last show in his original run with the Pogues in Japan, I think they fired him after - full show is on youtube, not the easiest thing to watch - the dude was one of a kind no doubt

RIP, but not surprising with the "live fast" attitude.

However, as a reminder, all the original members of Black Sabbath still live and there is no adequate explanation for that other than random chance.

I honestly thought that he had died years ago.
