Need some good basketball facilities to reel in a good coach and good players. LSU has never been interested in doing that for the head basketball coach

As good as the SEC now it will be way over.

We have middle to bottom of the league in facilities. We have a fanbase that puts mens basketball behind Football and Baseball. It takes a top 10 team coming in the PMAC to get the retirement community occupying the first 10 rows out of their seats. We have an admin that will dump you without second thought (Michigan was going to sue to big 10 to get them off Harbaughs arse. Thats sticking up for your guy)

The lone attractive trait of taking this job would that you can build a top 10 team without having to travel more than 4-5 hours in any direction.

As another poster said, we’d have to get lucky either with a cast away, maybe steal Mike White from UGA or take a chance on someone like Tom Crean. Alternatively you’d have to get lucky with an up and comer like Wade was. He wanted to build his own path. Knew that you do have the resources to be successful here. If a program like Florida or Auburn can be a consistent winner then so can LSU.

I'm not sure.. what I do know is though that the firing of WW and the hiring of MM is by far the worst thing that Woodward has ever done as an AD in the MBB sphere.

At Washington, he started by inheriting a decently successful coach in Lorenzo Romar. Before Woodward was hired by Washington, Romar led them to a pair of Sweet 16 appearances. Woody re-signed Romar to a 10 year deal and they proceeded to win a couple of PAC-10 regular season titles and a couple of PAC-10 tournament titles. This is pretty decent success, but Woody didn't hire him. He simply re-signed the guy the previous AD hired.

At A&M he hired Buzz Williams, who had a terrible start, but has rebuilt A&M into a solid SEC program. They were the runner up in the NIT a couple seasons ago, made the NCAAT last year, and will likely make it again this year. They are a solid program.

And then, there's us. McMahon is looking like a terrible hire. There have been no signs of life outside of having decent recruiting. I do unfortunately think that MM isn't the guy to get it done, but I'm hoping that he can. Unfortunately (even though I don't want him to) I do think he gets bare minimum one more year to prove himself. Things are looking bleak right now but I highly doubt Woody feels any sort of pressure to act right now in terms of saving MBB. He killed it by firing Wade (although I think president Tate doesn't get talked about enough in regards to it).

Bottom line is we're going to need better facilities and likely another PMAC renovation to truly turn ourselves into an elite program. My hope is that this will come from WBB success and the men's team will benefit by proximity and sharing some of the facilities (PMAC, practice gym). With the majority of the money going to other programs like football and baseball LSU just doesn't have the devoted fanbase to compete. With OU and Texas joining the SEC, we're going to go further down the totem pole. I really fear that McMahon being hired at the time he did with those 2 new teams joining the SEC that we're going to be bottom feeders for a long time. Wade had our program established near the top. Now we're at the bottom.

So essentially what you have under Woody is one extension that worked well, a hiring that was bad while he was there (but has improved since), and a terrible hire so far in McMahon. It's not the best, but it's also not the worst.. I know the typical course of action in the MBB sphere on TD is to hate on Woody (rightfully so) but I do think there's enough here to have a small, microscopic amount of hope. Not in MM necessarily, because I think we're stuck having to ride out until after year 3- but in Woodward finding someone. I hope.

3 straight went, starting with Dale brown. And 4 of 5 including wade. Only 3 between Rabenhorst and brown. So maybe not too many. Only 1 hasn’t won since the 80’s and that’s jones.
