The maid...lol washed some sheets today and they came out singed. We put a smaller batch and turned the temp to low, it's like 250 degrees coming out the heating side. I'm wondering if the element isnt shutting off and running continuously.

Anyone know where to start?

Vent is clear.

And the temp of the air coming into the drum is 300+

Had the same thing happen years ago. Heat was on high no matter what I set it to. It would also heat even if dryer was off so we’d have to unplug dryer if not in use. It was a short in the heating element.

I'll have to check that. Looks like ours shuts off when I open the door.

I'll just have to take it apart and see what I can find.

Could putting to much in there and turning it on high heat do this to?

Possibly if there is too much in there and the sheets are stuck against the vent bc they can’t move.

If it has thermostats change them. I recently had this problem with a Whirlpool dryer. I ended up changing both thermal fuses and both thermostats. I also changed the heating element. I had my wife turn the heat down to medium and dry off the timer not the automatic setting. This all finally got it to quit blowing the lower thermal fuses.

Make sure you heating element isn’t grounded to the housing. If that isn’t it, then change fuse and thermostat. If that isn’t it, then might be control board. Went through this several times - ended up being the control board.

If your vent is clear you could still have lint down by the blower motor. Take the back off and clean that area. YouTube your dryer symptoms as well.

Happened to our old dryer after lightning strike fried several electronics. Is this one with a manual knob for time and temperature settings? I had to replace the knob components. Was like $50 part and quite easy to replace. Worked fine afterwards.

Operating thermostat or limiting thermostat is stuck closed. Should open at a certain temp. I would replace inlet and outlet thermostats and clean the vents.

Unless it's electric then it's possible your element is grounded out. This will give the element power at all times.
Very dangerous.
