Now what? It’s literally the beginning of the season in Alabama and I won’t have enough freezer space for anything else. What do I do the rest of the season?

Maybe find someone with some pointers and quail hunt? That’s easier said than done. Maybe get after the hogs?

I’ve never been in this situation before. I’ll take pointers. My wife would also appreciate y’all helping me find something to keep me busy this time of year.

Hogs take up freezer space too. Only one solution, another freezer.

You have two more tags… don’t be a quitter… give some meat to folks that are less fortunate, if you don’t want to buy another freezer.

I’m in the same boat. Got my target buck opening weekend so this whole week that I’ve been in South Texas instead of deer hunting hard like I normally do I’ve been staying up all night hog hunting with my thermal.

Great idea. Or give some away to friends who’ve never had venison before. Deer Meat Diplomacy is good for hunting.

Deer meat is easy to give away. I don’t have to fill every tag, but I’ll keep hunting until the season ends or all tags are filled.

I don't care if you're 8 or 80, you are taking a pic of a 150 lb deer that you shot. Calling BS.

I’m in the same boat except some 25 year old local got the deer I was after last weekend. Totally deflated me. Shame on him for wandering off.

Not all deer are swamp midgets. Or maybe he harvested a deer with imported genes.
quote:

Fawns are born in late spring and summer and by early
November a male fawn weighs about 85 pounds and a female
about 80 pounds. Yearling bucks average 150 pounds, while
does of the same age average about 20 percent less, or about
120 pounds. Some older bucks weigh 200 pounds or more
when field dressed (about 250 pounds live weight) and the
heaviest Nebraska whitetail on record was 287 pounds field
dressed (about 355 pounds live weight).

WHITE-TAILED DEER (Odocoileus virginianus)

Deer meat makes a nice gift for non-deer hunters

A lot of fishermen "put a hit out" to deer hunting friends/clients. The reciprocity is a bunch of shrimp or snapper they caught. Find a friend that is a fisherman but doesn't hunt much, and you can both fill each other's freezers with nature's bounty.
