But losing $30K per vehicle isn't sustainable for legacy manufacturers, and it's really tough on startups ( Rivian).
It's tough but it's possible and quite profitable if you do it the right way.
Remember in 2008 when the CEO's of the major car manufactures rolled to Capitol Hill to beg for bailouts in private jets? There's reasons why they can't survive getting into the market - because they're already too big to survive without subsidies.

They must have really improved the batteries then. The Ford Lightning only got 80 miles pulling a trailer. Plus, good luck finding a charging station at the deer lease, baw.

You made my point. Ford did it on their own without government intervention. My post didn’t say they were doing great compared to GM and Chrysler.

I’m here for the math check. Let’s see it.
It's very apparent you guys can't math. Math is pure accountability, not words you can choose to apply to what you determine significant or not. nothing about EVs was more financially or environmentally responsible because it was a fantasy. Folks put feelings over math.
End of fantasy. Looks like the accountants have called it quits because the subsidies aren't coming to help sweep the real overhead cost that is required with these vehicles.
So it doesn't matter what you argue, doesn't matter what you think, the price of all EV parts are only going up at this point because IE combustion engines are going to get all the operating income from automakers. It'll be a special choice to own one, therefore a higher cost with anything involved than what it already is.

[electric] drivers will be able to take advantage of saving at the pump.
Wasn’t there an article posted recently that driving an electric is equivalent to paying $17/ gal for gasoline?
I’ve seen pics and read articles about diesel generators powering electric charging stations. That must be propaganda, as electricity is totally clean and made of unicorn farts and pixie dust. And electricians are happy to rewire peoples’ houses to power ev chargers for free.
I can’t see how anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together falls for this bullshite.
Edit: If I can’t drive from south of NO to Shreveport without having to stop and recharge overnight, I will never consider this a serious transportation option.

What about that giant shite show off 65 in rural KY?
Posted on 11/24/23 at 1:50 am to GeauxTigersLee
Really? Your takeaway was that despite there being almost no charging stations in the rural areas between south of NO and Shreveport, paying for the privilege of driving an ev for over $17/ gal of gas is ok? I’m an Xer, but I’m about to get “I can’t even” on you people.

The others in this thread aren't the ones making exaggerated claims like you did:

When this clearly isn't the case. There are many superchargers on the route and charging as already stated would take 30-45 mins and not overnight.
EVs clearly have their limitations as discussed ad nauseum in other threads as well. I certainly wouldn't own one if I was a road warrior, lived in a cold environment, couldn't install my own charger at home, or had to tow greater than 100 miles on a regular basis. You can make EVs work in those cases but often at either increased convenience and or cost. Luckily the above use isn't what the majority of people use and EVs do have a great utility in most other cases.
But whatever, no matter how many times this is discussed the topic is polarizing and people are steadfast in their lane.

I saw my neighbor’s Tesla being loaded up on a flatbed wrecker this week, I hope he missed the delight I took in watching.

It said the cost was $17/gal after accounting for subsidies, which is a retarded argument meant to influence mouth breathers like yourself.

None of these “Green Energy” replacements work without the Government pouring tons of tax dollars into leveling the playing field with what they are seeking to replace. Don’t even get me started on the ethanol boondoggle.

You do realize that the oil and gas industry is heavily subsidized, correct?

So it’s taking him 112 hours plus the actual drive time? This can’t be true.
