I fail to understand how any halfway-intelligent individual could dislike this movie.

Well, this is basically a sports message board, so a certain percentage here aren't necessarily halfway intelligent.

I took one of my more literal-minded friends to see this movie. And she was flaming pissed at the end of the movie that they never explain why people can’t have babies anymore. Which I think was kind of brilliant. The #1 flaw of almost every dystopian movie or novel is the temptation to solve the society. Here, they can’t even figure out what is causing the dystopia. The audience is as clueless as the characters in the film. I like that.

But after a day or two, she admitted it was a good movie. Especially the battle sequence.

So you wasted your money based on the advice of someone you can't even remember? I'd suggest your lashing out needs to be redirected internally.

You know, I'm not one to come into a thread and post one-off posts like "BOOM" or "Germans!"... but I'll make an exception for this one

Bingo.

Cinematography was flipping fantastic too. Solid all-around film.

I think the long tracking shot of the fight sequence as they leave the apartment complex is the greatest long shot of the last decade save the Dunkirk sequence of Atonement.
