Not sure if here, the Home/Garden, or Tech board is the best spot, so please move according, Admin.
Wondering if any of you folks with deer camps have GPS tracking on your ATVs/mowers/etc that you leave up there in the event that they are stolen? If so, pros/cons? Brands?
TIA

Would an Apple air tag work?

That's one I am looking at. Just curious if the battery would make it through the offseason? I know some fleets have em hard wired in so that they power up when you crank it off. Never have to worry about batteries dying

My dad uses trak4 on his boat. I’m not sure how well it would work on an ATV battery but it’s worth looking into.

I use apple tags on my work trucks. It's been about a year and I still haven't changed the batteries. They are really good for the money and no subscription. The only problem I've noticed is sometimes they are very accurate and others not so much. It's hit and miss, but for the price they are hard to beat.

Look into Tougher Tech. Has GPS tracking as well as a feature where you have to scan your face on the app in order for the ignition to work. You can scan your face and unlock it for varying amounts of time based on how long you will be using it. So if you are at the camp for 3 days you can unlock the ignition for three days or you can only unlock it for a few hours

They work by bouncing the signal off of a nearby Iphone.
Anytime someone with one walks buy, it pings it and the phone sends the signal.
No iphone around and there is no signal to send.

Had a fairly expensive box stand stolen off my property back in the spring of '21, all my stands have them now. I use Verizon models because I have some left over after getting some to put on company equipment. They haven't moved yet.

The problem with AirTags is if the thief has an iPhone, they will get a notification there’s a tag moving with them. One man’s theft tracker is another man’s gym chick stalking aid.
