Surprising the wife with a NY trip for a few days right before Christmas. Any recommendations on where to stay? I’d like a nicer hotel.

Any recommendations on where to shop, eat, drink, have coffee and dessert? I’d like one meal, preferably, at a nice, warm and cozy spot — preferably Italian I guess. Obviously, we want to see the Rockefeller tree. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I’ve done Christmas there a few times, last year included. When you say a nicer hotel, a price range would be helpful. Because a nicer hotel can be the Park Plaza - but enjoy the $800-1000/night cost.

We stayed in Soho last year at the Soho Grand Hotel and really enjoyed it. So that would be my recommendation.

For a nice Italian spot, look into Rezdora. It’s a 1 Michelin star place where the EC studied in Modena under Massimo Bottura.

I did the Xmas in NYC trip a couple of years back and stayed at the Hilton right on Times Square. It was perfect for quick walks to see the Rockettes, shopping and a bunch of the must-do tourist stuff. Easy to grab a taxi there to go other places as well.

Stay at the Marriott Marquis Times Square, very close to the plays, Rockefeller center, park, and 5th av high end stores.

IMO, it really depends on what you want to do. We took our kid last Thanksgiving and did the Times Square thing, which was great for her. Plays, Rockettes, etc are all right there for that stuff. If it’s just my wife and me, we stay near Union Square…W is nice.

We stayed at Times Square Edition last Christmas and enjoyed it. Next to everything you want to do for Christmas. We left on NYE as we weren’t interested in that.

We have stayed at the Hilton Midtown and the Sheraton Times Square. Both are great locations. The Rockettes Christmas show is a must see for us.

I think Christmas time is the best time to be in NYC

Has a magical feel to it and I’m fortunate I got to go several times growing up to see family up that way

We camped out at like 4 in the morning at the today show standing on the rails when it was in the 20’s and we hung a “Merry Christmas from Mississippi “ sign and Katie couric gave me a big hug

Maybe check out the rockettes?

Good times. I always think of fun memories in New York around Christmas time .

We were there last year for the second week of Dec and it was awesome! Stayed at the Mr. C Seaport which was very nice and probably similar to what you may be looking for. The Seaport area is quaint and nice with lots of restaurants near by and right next to the Brooklyn Bridge.

Headed back for a girls trip the week after Thanksgiving and I can't wait! Staying at the Grayson near Bryant Park which also looks like a great area, but not in the middle of everything like Times Square.

My wife and I stayed at the Belvedere Hotel. Not far from Times Square and it was pretty nice.
