Both “must watch” type players but winning percentages not elite.

Apples v. Oranges

They are not renaming Tiger Stadium after Jayden Daniels. Having seen both play their respective sports and there isn’t a remote comparison. I’m not sure if some of you understand how much better Pete was than everyone else that ever put on a college basketball jersey. That includes Michael Jordan. Michael didn’t have nearly that guys skill set. For those that don’t know, Pete could dunk so effortlessly and had some serious hops. Ask Dr J because he wrote about him in his book. He had to play below the rim.
All y’all saw were the passes and shots…

What kind of dumb statement is this Jayden Daniels doesn't play defense, but then again neither did Pete too much.

Considering Pistol will never relinquish his title as top scorer in college basketball history even though he could only play three years and never had a three point line…

Pete was before my time, but is widely considered the greatest player in college basketball history.
Jayden will be know as the 2nd best QB in LSU history

Pistols teams won at a 68 percent clip his last two years. JD record as starter at LSU just slightly better, around 69 percent.

This thread made me think about that Detroit Mercy dude who finished his career 3 points behind Pete. Still can't believe that crazy shite happened and Pete stayed #1.

You can’t compare the teams for a host of reasons notwithstanding they are completely different sports. Hell the SEC wasn’t integrated when Pete played. That has a factor. Of course he dominated everyone else too but I digress.

Jayden Daniels is a good comparison to Jerry Stovall MAYBE. Jerry should have won the Heisman (came in second). Dominated both sides of the ball, was the best Thaler on the field.

Winning matters. There's no way to put Pete over Laettner or Alcindor/Jabbar. They were multi-faceted players that put their teams first. You can't say either of those things about Maravich.

Not in the same stratosphere.

They played for the 2 greatest coaches in college basketball history with other great players. Pete played 1 on 5 at times because he didn’t have help. I saw it live FWIW.
Dude - think next time BEFORE you post. Hell Shaq could put a team on his back better than Laetner but had Daddy Dale as his coach.

I'd put Pete over Laettner any day. I also saw Pete play. NO ONE could guard/stop him.

Whatever makes you feel good about yourself and idiotic post. How old are you? How many final fours have you seen on your lifetime? Been to live? How many years did you spend at LSU when Pete was in school? How many years were you an LSU basketball season ticket holder?
I’m not saying Alcindor wasn’t great because he was but you’re throwing Christian Laetner in his class? Geez man.
I tell you what, go on google and look at the number of views Pete still gets. Look at the number of Movies about him. Look at the pre 30 for 30 and SEC films on him. Look at the books and other great players talking about him.
Then come back for an intelligent conversation.

Alcindor was the greatest college player in history. Pete was right behind him. That’s not too bad.
JD is having a great year but let’s not get carried away.
