Depends, some places like the Atchafalya you can anchor out on a sandbar. If it's a natural bayou you can anchor out. It's on a private lease you have lease a piece of property from a landowner to tie off and have use of the bank.

you can’t block a navigable waterway and you can’t tie up to anything on private land without permission
fortunately there are thousands of abandoned well locations with dead end canals that are perfect for tying up a camp

Thought so, I worked with your dad on a couple of projects, I've been hunting at the HB several times, how is your dad doing?

Always been amazed by the camp culture in Louisiana. Who do the floating camps work? Do you have to have a permit from some one or can you just tie the thing up to a tree wherever you want?

As typical in the state , it turns into junk/ litter being abandoned by the owner.
Yes you have to register them with the state now.

if it can travel on its own it’s a boat and needs boat registration

Old large propane cylinders with a metal frame and clips welded to frame to anchor wood and build up from there

Looks like we are pursuing the foam filled dock floats option. Damn this will be one expensive endeavor!!

Just went through this whole process. You have to register any houseboat now. You have to fill out an Affidavit of non-motorized houseboat, get it notarized, then either mail or carry yourself to LDWF and get it registered. Make sure you have pics of all sides of it included and the Affidavit filled out correctly, or it starts all over again.
I asked about when I put a motor on the back. They told me its a another process.
I will upload pics of my build as soon as I get a little time.

The build process and the aftermath.
And then Ida had to shower her arse...
But we salvaged the pontoons and some of the joist. Started over and now it currently looks like this:

dang not bad!
really like the vaulted ceiling
we built V1.0 and floated it to its spot 2 weeks before Andrew. All we had left was the floor…
drug it back to calumet and started over but made it so big we couldn’t get under the bridge at the wax landing LOL. Had to drag it back again and go down the river the long way

My BiL built one himself with 200 blue plastic 55 gallon drums. Took years but he's living in it now and it's gorgeous. Two story with a top deck and wraparound porch.
