Looking for a film…

I saw a preview 4/5 years ago. From what I remember it was a low to mid budget movie.
The premise was; an elite (maybe) nonetheless infantry team on a mission or patrol in Afghanistan late at night. They started seeing lights and “glowing” in the distance. LSS, it was aliens from what I could gather. About all I can remember. It may be good or bad, but it pops into my head now and then. Regardless of quality I would rush to check it out just because it’s been stuck in my head.

I think this is probably it. I thought it was pretty good. Not a big budget production but effective. Creepy references to what Alexander the Great’s armies experienced in Afghanistan. Worth the time imho. The Objective

He didn’t say he saw the preview when it was released, it could’ve been a preview to an old movie he watched 4-5 years ago.

It’s “The Objective.”
Such a dark and very creepy movie. Afghanistan has so many tales of why it stays UNDEFEATED throughout history, and this movie seems like just as plausible of an explanation as any.
And it was very well done, for what seems like a low budget, late at night IFC movie IMO. Very decent actors who don’t overplay anything, and pretty much capture the underlying fears of the unknown and potential supernatural forces that always seem present in combat.
