Cars Sold After 2026 Will Have Kill Switch

Thomas Massie tweeted about it. He said no one read the bill and were going to pass it. He had to read the relevant sections on the House floor.
Here's what it says:
1) Cars sold after 2026 must have some sort of software that "detects" impaired or reckless driving. Once it is detected, the software either throttles or turns off engine.
2) The car will also have to have a blood alcohol monitor that passively monitors the air for alcohol. You don't have to be a genius to understand how stupid this idea is.
The bill doesn't make it clear how it will work or what triggers it. For example, is it speeding? Is it just swerving? Is it something else? All the bill says is that the car must monitor the "driving pattern" of the user to determine if he is impairied.
Massie brought a resolution to strike this part of the bill. He didn't get the votes. (lol Republicans).
EDIT: I don't know if the debate is over yet. Massie said his resolution failed, but I don't know if there might be another.

He was on Beck this morning discussing it. Said there was a ton of lobbying from organizations like MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving)...
Millions of women won't be able to drive more than 5-10 miles at a time if this occurs.

Thought we would have flying cars by now. Not cars that monitor driving habits.

And? You’ll be able to buy a chip off Temu for $5 to disable it. That ir viral TikToks will show us how

Eye reading sensors/software will be in vehicles to determine "sleepiness". Some cars now already use the "lane assist" tech to "recommend" you pull over to rest. After 2026 that'll just be connected to some sort of kill switch.
Tech in cars is just an avenue to authoritarianism. Dems play long game for sure. "Cash for Klunkers" was definitely apart of that game.
Investing in old vehicles is the only way to go.

My body my choice counts. If I want to steer my Yukon into your Prius then who are you to tell me what I can do with my arms?!?

So if your passenger has been drinking the air in the car will detect it and shut off your engine. This would kill Uber and Lyft.

My neighbor says his BMW already has this and warns him about sleepiness after only 4 hours, LOL.

Thank goodness democracy in Ohio stopped that!

Why worry about heavy handed government regulation? We can just get around it with a warranty voiding alteration.

Speckled trout limits dropped, now this. WTF!?

Keep thinking that.
They are making car electronics almost unhackable. You think they are going to mandate this without requiring it not be easily disabled?

What happens when the car kills itself and causes a fatal accident? Drunk or not, there’s a massive liability question that needs to be answered.
Also this is complete idiocy.

Cars will now sense the number of speckled trout you are bringing back from a fishing trip and notify the authorities of your offense.

Was there any federal involvement in that shite?

It’s ok if government watches me because I’m not doing anything wrong!

You didn't either, or you're a fricking moron.
The deadline, compliance tp, and extension deadline sections alone show neither you, nor Massie, read the bill lol.
