Its the same kind of people who pretend to get into really obscure music and imdy films. They want themselves to seem "above the fray". They will brag at parties how they don't just vote down ballot, but they look at each politician on their own. But in reality, they will vote for any Democrat who seems somewhat normal and not a complete moonbat like Rashida Talib or something.

Or possibly the fact that 44% of the LA electorate is not party affiliated. They just vote for the person and they were duped by JBE's bullshite 'moderate' styling, while the two R's torched each other for the runoff with negative ads.
