Anyone here witness the celebrations in Great Britain on this special of days?

I find it ironic that the day is named for the man because his plot to kill King James I and parliament failed, and even celebrated with bonfires and fireworks. Are there any other days celebrated with fireworks in England?

Kids go around and ask for money. A penny for the Guy. Kind of like trick or treating

If Fawkes had been successful we would all be speaking Catholic now.

I witnessed it this past Friday night. It was about like the lead-up to the Fourth of July here, at least where I was, which was a suburban area SE of Nottingham. I’m sure it picked up steam last night.

The original False Flag operation

There never was any gunpowder or plot to blow up parliament.

Observed it in Australia once. The local municipality lit a huge bonfire. We just hung out grilling snags and drinking VB.

The irony is in the fact that you don't know if people are celebrating the foiled plot or Guy Fawkes for his attempt.
