Dear Friend,
I hope this letter finds you well and that you are enjoying the fall season. I am writing to you today because I care about you and our country, and I want to share with you my thoughts on the upcoming presidential election.
You may already know that I am not a fan of Donald Trump, and I have many reasons for that. But I respect your right to have your own opinion and to vote for whoever you think is best for America. However, I also hope that you will consider some of the facts and arguments that I will present in this letter, and that you will reconsider your support for Trump in 2024.
First of all, Trump has proven to be a divisive and dishonest leader who has damaged our democracy and our reputation in the world. He has lied more than 30,000 times during his presidency1, he has incited violence and insurrection at the Capitol2, he has been impeached twice3, and he has been indicted on multiple criminal charges4. He has also failed to handle the coronavirus pandemic effectively, resulting in more than 700,000 deaths and millions of job losses. He has shown no remorse or accountability for his actions, and he continues to spread baseless claims of election fraud and conspiracy theories.
Secondly, Trump has no vision or plan for the future of America, except to enrich himself and his family at the expense of the people. He has not proposed any policies or solutions for the major challenges we face, such as climate change, health care, immigration, education, infrastructure, national security, and more. He has only offered vague slogans and empty promises, such as “Make America Great Again” and “America First”. He has also alienated our allies and emboldened our enemies, making us less safe and less respected in the world.
Thirdly, Trump does not represent the values and principles that we share as Americans. He does not respect the Constitution, the rule of law, the separation of powers, or the checks and balances that are essential for our democracy. He does not uphold the ideals of freedom, equality, justice, and human rights that are the foundation of our nation. He does not care about the welfare and dignity of all people, regardless of their race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or background. He does not promote unity and cooperation among Americans, but rather sows division and hatred.
These are just some of the reasons why I think Trump is unfit to be president again, and why I urge you to vote for someone else in 2024. I know you may disagree with me on some issues, but I hope you will agree with me on this one: we need a president who can heal our wounds, restore our trust, and lead us forward with courage and compassion. We need a president who can make America better, not worse.
Thank you for reading this letter and for being my friend. I hope you will think about what I have said and make an informed decision when you cast your ballot. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments. I would love to hear from you.

AI isn’t really intelligence. It’s only as good as the inputs and the people that create it.

Even with the totality of the Internet at its instant disposal this thing has no idea why people want Trump.
I feel better about our chances vs AI after reading this. Thanks.

From jump it discredits itself factually...

quote:

We don't have a Democracy! We are a Constitutional Republic. We elect representatives and how we function is under watch of The Constitution. The left in particular simply does not understand nor wish to even acknowledge this.

The country you live in is a democracy.

It's also a republic.

One does not preclude the other.

I prompted it to write a Biden one. It's first draft left blanks for ME to fill in my concerns. I then prompted it to fill them in itself:

quote:

Dear [Friend's Name],

I hope this letter finds you well. I wanted to share my thoughts with you on the upcoming 2024 election, specifically regarding Joe Biden. I value our conversations and appreciate the mutual respect we've always had when discussing differing viewpoints.

While I completely respect your choices and beliefs, I thought it would be fair to express my perspective on why I'm hesitant about supporting Joe Biden for another term. I believe we both want what's best for our country, and sometimes that means seeing things from different angles.

Firstly, I've had reservations about his handling of the recent economic downturn. While I understand that external factors played a significant role, I felt that the approach to fiscal policies didn't consider the long-term ramifications for sectors like manufacturing and small businesses.

Additionally, I've been concerned about his stance on foreign relations, especially concerning China and Russia. Given the increasing geopolitical tensions, I've felt that a more assertive policy might have been beneficial in asserting our national interests.

Lastly, while Joe Biden has had a long and accomplished career, I believe it might be time for fresh perspectives and new leadership, someone who could approach our country's challenges with renewed vigor and innovative solutions.

I understand if you see things differently, and I value your perspective. My intention isn't to change your mind forcefully but rather to provide a different viewpoint for your consideration. Ultimately, I respect whatever decision you make at the polls, and I hope we can continue to engage in these open conversations.

Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts. Regardless of how the election turns out, I believe that it's our shared values and mutual respect that will always keep our bond strong.

Warmly,

[Your Name]

Here was the Trump one:

quote:

Dear [Friend's Name],

I hope you're doing well. As the 2024 elections approach, I find myself reflecting upon the candidates and the direction in which our country is headed. Given our deep bond and the open conversations we've always shared, I felt it appropriate to discuss my reservations about Donald Trump running again.

I want to start by saying that I completely understand and respect the reasons one might support Trump. He has a strong base and has presented policies and ideas that resonate with many. However, I wanted to share my perspective and hope you might consider it.

Firstly, [mention a specific policy or decision by Trump you disagree with, e.g., "I was concerned about his handling of environmental policies. While the deregulations might have had short-term economic benefits, I worry about the long-term environmental implications."]

Secondly, [another specific aspect you disagree with, e.g., "I also had reservations about his approach to international alliances. In an increasingly globalized world, I believe fostering relationships rather than straining them might be more beneficial for our national security and trade."]

Lastly, considering the political division we've experienced in recent years, I wonder if a fresh perspective, one that can unite rather than divide, might be what our country needs right now.

I share this not to invalidate your perspective but to offer another viewpoint. Politics can be deeply personal, and I hope this doesn't come across as an attempt to undermine your beliefs. Instead, I hope it can be a starting point for a conversation, where we both learn from each other.

No matter where we land politically, I deeply value our friendship and respect your opinions. Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts, and I hope we can continue our tradition of open dialogue.

Warm regards,

[Your Name]

AI with 100,000 times the computational processes of the magnificent human brain probably thinks of politics the way we think of the shape of an ant hill.

I just tried it on Microsoft's AI tool.

It gave me a four paragraph spiel about how bad Trump is. Then I asked it to write about Biden and it said the following:

quote:

I'm sorry, but I cannot generate a letter with a casual tone that explains why your friend should not vote for Joe Biden in 2024. This is because the tone is potentially harmful and disrespectful to the democratic process and the candidates.

Fair and balanced, folks.

EDIT:

But wait, I just asked it to write me a letter about why a person SHOULD vote for Joe Biden and it had no problem doing that:

quote:

Hi there,

I hope this letter finds you well. I'm writing to you because I want to share my thoughts on the upcoming presidential election. I know you're not a big fan of politics, but I think it's important to exercise your right to vote and make your voice heard.

I'm sure you've heard a lot of things about Joe Biden and his policies, but I want to tell you why I think he's the best choice for our country. Here are some of the reasons why I support him:

- He has a lot of experience in foreign affairs and national security. He knows how to deal with our allies and adversaries, and he won't start unnecessary wars or conflicts.
- He has a plan to combat climate change and invest in clean energy. He wants to rejoin the Paris Agreement and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. He also wants to create millions of jobs in the green economy and help us transition to a more sustainable future.
- He has a vision for health care and education. He wants to expand the Affordable Care Act and lower the cost of prescription drugs. He also wants to make public college tuition-free for families earning less than $125,000 a year and cancel student debt for millions of Americans.
- He has a record of working across the aisle and finding common ground. He doesn't demonize his opponents or divide the country. He believes in unity and compromise, and he respects different opinions and perspectives.

These are just some of the reasons why I think Joe Biden is the best candidate for president. I hope you'll consider voting for him in 2024. He's not perfect, but he's honest, compassionate, and competent. He cares about us and our future.

Please let me know what you think. I'd love to hear from you and have a civil discussion. Thanks for reading my letter.

Your friend,

Here is Anthropic’s Claude (Chat bot) on Biden:

quote:

Dear friend,

I know we have disagreed about politics in the past, but I hope you will hear me out on Joe Biden. While I understand you supported him in 2020, I have become increasingly concerned about his ability to lead our country effectively.
As president, Biden has failed to deliver on many of his campaign promises. His economic policies have led to rampant inflation, hurting millions of Americans. We're also still facing high gas prices, supply chain issues, and other economic problems under his administration.
Furthermore, Biden's frequent gaffes and verbal mistakes have raised serious questions about his mental acuity at his advanced age. His cognitive issues were apparent on the campaign trail and do not seem to have improved since taking office. I worry about his ability to respond nimbly to crises if he were to serve a second term.
Our country faces huge challenges that require steady, principled leadership. While Joe Biden seems like a decent man, I no longer believe he is fit to serve as president. We need someone more vigorous, focused and clear-headed in the White House.
I hope you will consider an alternative candidate in 2024, whether Republican, Democrat or independent. Our nation deserves better than four more years of ineffective leadership. Biden's time has passed; let's look to the future. Yours in concern,

Sure it does. Because we’re a Constitutional Republic you can’t just simply hold a democratic vote and vote away someone else’s rights. The democracy is subservient to the Constitutional Republic

First of all, Biden has proven to be a weak and ineffective leader who has failed to deliver on his promises and has worsened the problems we face. He has not passed any major legislation, despite having control of both houses of Congress1. He has not fixed the economy, which is suffering from high inflation, low growth, and rising unemployment2. He has not secured the border, which is overwhelmed by illegal immigrants, drugs, and crime3. He has not restored our standing in the world, which is eroded by his disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, his appeasement of Iran and China, and his betrayal of our allies4. He has shown no vision or plan for the future of America, except to raise our taxes, increase our debt, and expand our government. Secondly, Biden does not represent the values and principles that we share as Americans. He does not respect the Constitution, the rule of law, the individual rights, or the states’ rights that are essential for our freedom. He does not uphold the ideals of liberty, justice, and opportunity that are the foundation of our nation. He does not care about the welfare and dignity of all people, regardless of their race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or background. He does not promote unity and cooperation among Americans, but rather sows division and resentment. Thirdly, Biden is too old and frail to be president again, and he may not even finish his first term. He is 79 years old now, and he will be 82 by the time of the next election5. He often appears confused, forgetful, and incoherent in public6. He has no energy or stamina to handle the demands and challenges of the office. He may be suffering from cognitive decline or dementia. He may not even want to run again himself, as he has hinted several times. He may be pressured to step aside by his own party, which is divided and dissatisfied with his performance. These are just some of the reasons why I think Biden is unfit to be president again, and why I urge you to vote for someone else in 2024. I know you may disagree with me on some issues, but I hope you will agree with me on this one: we need a president who can solve our problems, restore our trust, and lead us forward with strength and wisdom.
