game still to be played...I've always thought the 4th season was a pretty good way to judge a head coach, because he's coaching the players that he's recruited, except for maybe a couple of guys.

4th & 5th season records of coaches who have won BCS championships, with the team that they've won the championship with.

Fulmer…11-1 & 10-2

Bowden..11-1 & 10-2

Stoops…12-2 & 12-2

Coker…..9-3 & 9-3

Tressel…8-4 & 10-2

Saban…13-1 & 9-3

Carroll…13-0 & 12-1

Brown….11-2 & 11-2

Meyer ….11-1 ( 2 games still to be played ) & ???

Miles……7-5 ( 1 game still to be played ) & ???

Dinardo..4-7 & 3-8

So Les was ahead of schedule brining in a championship with mostly his players in his 3rd season?

Skillet,

Besides your obvious swipe at Miles vis-a-vis the Dinardo reference (which negated your presumptive criteria in the first place), you also promptly forgot to include our QB situation & Co-DC fiasco as mitigating factors.

Nice try.

His players like: Flynn, Dorsey, Hester, Doucet, Steltz, Jackson...oh wait those weren't his players.

Don't forget the hurricane torment or the poor turf in Tiger Stadium or the damn LA humidity or the strength of the SEC or the spicy LA food or that they won't give the man a hat that fits his melon.

Ah yes, Saban taught those guys all they knew about football in their days on the scout team, and Miles did nothing but make them worse.

Idiotic.

No, but he did recruit guys that were not only talented but had good character. Miles hasn't been so strong in that category.

Listen Jerkoff, the 5th year Sr's were mostly developed by Miles and his staff, who have also proven to be good recruiters, and have out-recruited the last coach you are pining for.

Just looking at the offense from last year, over 60% of the offensive production was from players that Miles recruited. That's a FACT.

You want to think he sucks, go ahead, but you're wrong.

Players coached by Saban (& staff) & Miles (& staff) >>>>> Players coached by just Miles (& staff)

You do the math.

Excepting the example of Ryan Perrilloux, who would you say that Miles has recruited, who had little to no character, who has had any impact on the direction of this team? Furthermore, who hasn't been disciplined when needed?

I can't stand it when people use this argument over and over and over again. Yes, Saban did recruit them which by some backwards logic makes them "his" players. Saban hasn't been around teaching these guys in the 3 or 4 years they played for LSU. So yes, they may be Saban's recruits, but they are Miles' players. arse
