Mike Johnson - First Speaker of the House from Louisiana

When all this started, I had hoped it would get to him. I was very doubtful due to how new he was in the grand scheme of it all.
He has a genuine shot of becoming the first Speaker of the House from Louisiana tomorrow. Many believed Scalise was lined up for it. Crazy to think Louisiana will be represented in the 2 highest positions in the Republican-controlled House of Reps.

Do you even Bob Livingston, bro?

He was never elected speaker, just nominated. It was torpedoed by Larry Flint trying to find anything on him and another woman Livingston had an affair with came out the woodwork. Keep in mind, this was just before impeachment proceedings happened with Clinton.
Livingston ended up retiring in 1999 and how we ended up with Hastert.

The softness of the late 90s Republican Party was as much to “blame” there.
I like the Johnson choice, I think.

I guess you can be proud of that, at this point idk if people really want it as now they’ll get all the focus on them. Everything will now be their fault as well and it’s the 3rd go at this, so again be proud but it’s not like he was the first guy. And I’m a huge supporter of his as he seems like a good genuine person in all the committee hearings I’ve watched, which is a lot, especially him during trumps investigations & impeachments.

Is he going to have real power or did he have to acquiesce to the arrangement McCarthy had where 8 can remove him?

No guarantee that Scalise will keep his leadership spot.

The republicans are not going to remove him. He literally took a bullet because he was a republican and he was just diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Terrible optics for the republicans to try and replace him.

New Speakers usually clean house, just saying

Don’t see Scalise losing it unless it’s already in discussions due to his cancer.

Never heard of him. Please tell me he isn't old & has evangelist white hair. Please be Libertarian thinking & tell everyone else to fack off.

The Speaker doesn’t choose the majority leader.

Good enough for LSU, good enough for America.
The LSU takeover of America rolls on.

Why do you hate accountability though?

Other than being from LA, cause we all know that LA politicians are sooooo trustworthy, why should we be good with him as SOTH?

Mike has been a personal friend for over 30 years. He is a good man with a high level of integrity. Pray for this man that he will stand strong again all the evil in DC

Flint offered a million dollars to anyone who could give proof of a republican having sex outside of marriage as retribution for the Republicans espousing the poon hound Bill Clinton.
And yes Johnson is a solid SoTH choice, however I think Congressional decorum gets a whole lot worse before it gets any better, IF if can get any better.
Someone will suicide bomb his tenute if he gets elected, The read map has been established.

I don't know Mike personally but know several people that do. By all accounts he's a good genuine guy and what you see is what you get. He let me in front of him in line at Walgreens one time when I had a buggy full of ice cream...so he's alright in my book.
Politically Mike is a great example of being able to disagree with someone with class and dignity while not sacrificing principles. To a large extent this makes someone more friends than enemies.
He might be the first example of this paying off in national politics in quite a while.
